Coach Kellie Harper fired

Son just called with this news. WOW! AD White doen not mess around. As much as I've loved Kellie over the years as a Lady Vol legend, it was TIME. Now for the interesting part: what aspiring coach would NOT want this job?

I let it slide once but you’ve brought it up twice now.

Vitello was hired in 17-18. White was hired in 2021.

And Vitello is a very good coach, and easy on the eyes.

Truly disappointed with this decision. Kellie deserved at least one more year. She is a class act and brought in a team of exemplary student athletes. I never worried about how Kellie, her staff or the team would represent my alma mater.

DW has shown himself to be weak and subject to which way the wind blows. He brought in a baseball coach that is an embarrassment to the university. That program is now known for vulgarity, poor sportsmanship and generally being a bunch of punks. I am tremendously concerned that the tradition Pat established of a national contender AND a class program is headed for the ash heap.

Just very sorry for a good person, good coach who has been treated unfairly by someone who isn’t even a member of the UT family.

I will continue to support the Lady Vols through thick and thin. I will hope for a new coach we can be proud of but now have significant doubts about DW’s judgment. A very sad day for UT WBB.

Danny White didn't hire Vitello, the A.D. before Fulmer did. Besides I honestly doubt he made this decision based on the small portion of Lady Vol fandom that are very online. I thought Kellie should have gotten one more season but I completely understand why someone else would disagree with that.

Who is still coaching in the tournament with Tennessee ties. strong recruiting credentials, championship pedigree, and for whom this job would be a huge step-up and would keep on the key current players and recruits in place
Jolette Law. The next LV head coach.

Sad, but needed I suppose. KJH is forever going to be a LVFL. It’s nothing personal. I presume we await a decision until after the conclusion of the NCAA tournament. I anticipate a big name. I don’t think we will get any SEC active coaches. We missed out on Kenny Brooks, but we shall see.

I've been wrong about it all.

But in my over review of that video, KJH wasn't at all unsure or frantic. Just stubborn and wrong. She directed traffic to exactly where she wanted it. It also looks like Joy says to her "the ball" or "on the ball" a couple of times. But she didn't relent in her decision.

Alot of people blame Rickea and TK bc neither reacted to the inbound. And it would have looked a helluva lot better if they had. But bottom line is don't set them up 12 ft from the ball and expect them to get there in 1.1.

The play that will go down in infamy. I think at that moment, it just got set in stone that it was never, ever going to happen for KJH.

Just...let it go.

Only 2 coaches in WBB have made the Sweet Sixteen every year the last 4 years.

Just playing devil's advocate - we read on Volnation all the time that NIL is a problem for the women's team. If that is a fact - or if it is just the perception to outsiders - many coaching prospects might think "why would I want the pressure of a job where the previous coach went to the tourney every year but still got fired, even though she was at a disadvantage in recruiting because of weak NIL". I wouldn't be surprised if the candidate list is less star studded than most hope for

DW doesn’t fire coaches that make the CWS consistently. That’s like making the Final 4.
