Just playing devil's advocate - we read on Volnation all the time that NIL is a problem for the women's team. If that is a fact - or if it is just the perception to outsiders - many coaching prospects might think "why would I want the pressure of a job where the previous coach went to the tourney every year but still got fired, even though she was at a disadvantage in recruiting because of weak NIL". I wouldn't be surprised if the candidate list is less star studded than most hope for
Yep. We should be at that level. We have a history second to none and a following every bit as hungry as anyone in the country.Only 2 coaches in WBB have made the Sweet Sixteen every year the last 4 years.
Dawn Staley and Geno Auriemma
Actually Pat did miss a sweet 16. She missed it following the first ever first round loss to Ball state in 2009.Yep. We should be at that level. We have a history second to none and a following every bit as hungry as anyone in the country.
Pat never missed a sweet 16. We should be at least there 80% of the time.
yeah my thing is lets hire someone who has won 80% of their games and give them a staff and resources to recruit at a high level. Not a lot of options like that at the major level. Don't think you can ding them too much for post-season performance when there is such a huge talent gap between low-seeded mid-majors and major college basketball but jmo. Berube beat NC State and Kentucky in the first round so these are coaches who get the absolute most out of their players. I feel like our problem has been under performing blue chippersGood list! Some quick thoughts for discussion purpose
Not likely on Ivey, she is Fighting Irish to the core.
Collen - maybe.

Fortier, probably not enough NCAA success.
Caldwell, probably does not have near enough of a D1 track record. Hard to be a great recruiter from her position. White would be crushed if she failed,. Too much risk.
Rocque, same as Fortier
Brooks - he is interesting. He has seriously over achieved for this level of school and has produced several WNBA players. He would be a longer run build over time, rather than a big splash, hire.
Berube - an another possibility. A bit like Brooks. Done really well for her level of school. Recruiting capabilities is again the question. She is a good X and O coach
Smesko - much like Brooks and Berube. Had done very well for the level of school.
The other path would be to grab a promising assistant coach from a currently elite program (and who is a known recruiter).
I hope the first is true. Couldn't disagree more with the second part.I think White is going after a big fish with a blank check.
This was the right move, regardless of who we end up with.
What sounds like that? I keep hearing that but no one sources it. Can you post the link?It sounds like DW wanted staff changes and Kelly said no.
Has Jolette ever been a head coach? That's the only thing that bothers me. Sounds a little Holly-esque. Lifelong assistant, good recruiter, what could possibly go wrong?Okay, I will make a serious prediction.
Who is still coaching in the tournament with Tennessee ties. strong recruiting credentials, championship pedigree, and for whom this job would be a huge step-up and would keep on the key current players and recruits in place
Jolette Law. The next LV head coach.
It is actually the only move that makes sense
We've been told recently that the NIL problems are coming to an end. Hopefully a healthy NIL bag is awaiting the new coach.Just playing devil's advocate - we read on Volnation all the time that NIL is a problem for the women's team. The TN website still has John Harper and all other staff listed. Kellie has been removed.
