Correct, i think he sent feelers out after the tournament and got a good positive feedback from who he wants. This shouldnt take long imo.

My understanding from a friend who used to work for an AD is he would have contacted the coaches agents to get the feedback on who was interested. All talk goes thru the coaches agent so if leaks occur the coach can say I have not been contacted by said school. For the mutually serious interested parties the AD would begin contract discussions again thru the agent.

Once the important things are agreed to it accelerates from there.

Partner and I last night were also talking about how the media narrative around Kellie really shifted to one implying she couldn’t get it done, and the SC game gave everyone a ready clip to illustrate that, true or not.

That's the worst part about it. If not for her brain freeze, her storyline would be completely different. I mean, the game was won. There was only one plausible way for SC to win the game, and she gave SC the opportunity to see if they could take advantage of it. All the talk about being worried about Fulwiley...have Rickea cover the inbounder and make SC come to the ball. Even those of us that aren't basketball coaches could see that. Yeah, odds of Kamila hitting a 3 were slim, but why even give her the chance to beat the odds?

The reason the men's program languished in basketball hell was the AD"s listened to crap from the so called living fans and jock sniffing boosters and not enough to basketball people. As for DW his women BB background is the Syracuse coach and a couple of other mid major hires littering the world of women's BB. He does have ties to the other White family, the Hurleys from UCONN, and the ND athletic dept. UCONN could give us Shea Ralph or the assistant at UCONN Cardoza or Elliott. If he talks to ND they will just tell them they saw a young black lady with WNBA background, smart and personable no experience so we kicked McGraw to the side built a statue and hired Ivey. That means you go get Kara Lawson. People are not going to like that. If you chase after Walz you get a scumbag that will interact with the men's teams fan and will be good for a slot on sports talk radio with Ivens or Basilio and talk about the men's program. Somebody who has not aged well in the Portal and NIL era. Payne at Colorado is interesting and we could probably get her, you would have to get her recruiters on her staff. She understands player development. Gottileb and close would have to be yanked from the west coast and would need recruiting coordinators to help recruit the south. Gottlieb looks like she would need to be surrounded by a former coach on her sidelines but she is a natural recruiter and checks a lot of my boxes.

Keep the crap about how much of a whiz kid DW is I don't want to hear it. I love Coach Hype but he did bring him in from where he AD'ed before he got here. The Walz crap is a bunch of trolls moaning about reverse discrimination, they will troll whoever is hired. A portion of the base are still mad that Holly was let go with the argument that KJH's resume was no better and now she is gone. Others hate Fulmer and want him erased via KJH perhaps one day they will enjoy the 97 football NC. To put this in perspective I read about "eye candy" as a condition of a hire yeah let me give you Coach Yo she will eye candy you and put her foot up your butt. She would also win.... Finally KJH needed to be replaced, but DW better get it right and he better do it on the fast track.

I said it before but a former UConn hire would be, figuratively, asking the entire fanbase to accept defeat - not just now but for all time. "Hail the conquering heroes." Germany marching into Paris. It would never be lived down. It would be tantamout to showing approval of how Geno treated Summitt and Tennessee, from all the remarks, to all the underhanded business. I can't see it happening.

At the same time, I acknowledge it would absolutely get peoples' attention. For better and for worse. It's a fascinating study. Even if it resulted in Tennessee winning, I think you'd have a lot of fans view it as just an extension of UConn winning, and not Tennessee. "Their way was right." I'm not sure it would ever feel authentic.

Coach by Friday or he may be looking at the bottom part of the SEC next season. Coach has to get in here and improve this roster. I doubt some of the current players stay. As far as 2025 not that concerned plenty of time and next coach may already have some players committed where they are now.

Coach by Friday or he may be looking at the bottom part of the SEC next season. Coach has to get in here and improve this roster. I doubt some of the current players stay. As far as 2025 not that concerned plenty of time and next coach may already have some players committed where they are now.

That’s why it’s good to see who the coach is first, for the players they can bring and the incoming recruits they have as well.

I lost track of the number of FB coaches who used TN's coaching searches to get raises when they were really not interested. One of the issues for an AD is identifying seriously interested coaches and the ones the coach and his agent is playing him for more $.

Because none of the fire Kellie crowd can name a list of five gettable coaches with better results than Kellie. It’s all fun and games running Kellie out of town until you have to find a replacement.

I like the list that Barney gave back at post #255. Ivey's not gettable, but the rest of this most likely is.

I know some of you are sold on DW but being honest, this will be his second major hire, so we'll see how this goes.

He was not the one that hired Barnes or Vitello even though most seem to give him credit for the success of both of those sports. He also did not hire Weakley - she has been here forever.
