I agree duke was brave, as was ND hiring Ivey. ND thinking was they could hire IVEY and increase her pay as she improved and have a NC coach without having a bidding war as she improved. Both kara and Ivey have WNBA experience, media background, strong national brands, intelligent. They check all the boxes of a Dawn Staley and both schools think they have them locked in for a small investment.

Kellie had HC experience before taking her first P5 job. Kara did not. In nine years at the P5 level, Kellie made two S16s. Kara, in y-four, has one, and is on pace to pass that if she continues to recruit well. As a 7 seed, Kara also beat a P5 team to get there. Kellie never beat a P5 team to make it to the S16 at TN.

Kellie took Missouri State to a Sweet Sixteen, and took TN to 2 Sweet Sixteens in the 4 possible years of going to the NCAA Tournament.

In case you didn’t notice, I only included the S16s she made as a coach at the *P5* level. I was comparing P5 resumes.

And yes, she did make the S16 at Mo St, which is actually her most impressive tourney run. She beat Iowa St on their floor to get there. At TN, she beat Belmont and Toledo to get there.. at home. Not exactly impressive wins, IMO. But in the tourney, a win is a win.

Kaniya*** is repping her official Lady Vol gear and merch on Instagram.

Seems like a good indication she is not going anywhere.

Edit: I said Kaiya on accident. I will be more careful with their names in the future. We’ve had several with similar names recently it seems.

Strickland and Striplin gave all the announcers a tough time this season.

First year on job AD White did not retain Coach Pavon as women's head golf coach. Hired former LV Golfer Cantu.

Second year dismissed Coach Sullivan head coach of track and field and cross country. Hired Coach Duane Ross as head coach of track and field. Thought outside the box and hired Coach Sean Carlson as head coach of cross country and distance running. Only program in America with CC head coach. Six national championships in this area counting indoor, outdoor and cc for men and women. Both coaches extended last year with best showing in 15 years.

Hired Coach Joe Kirt as head soccer coach when Pensky went to FSU. Kirt tied for first in Eastern Division his first year after losing one of his best players.

Hired head football coach Heupel. Results speak for themselves. Currently in the middle of a $400 million Neyland Stadium upgrade.

Mutually agreed to say good bye to deputy AD Monica Lebron. Hired former Auburn AD Green as his deputy.

Replaced head rowing Coach Glenn (retirement) and hired Coach Kim Cupini as replacement.

Convinced baseball head coach Tony Vitello not to leave two years ago when Tony could have gone anywhere. Raised his pay to 1.5 million to keep him. Doubling LNS at a cost of $100 million dollars. Raised Pitching Coach Frank Anderson's pay (who is recognized as one of top pitching coaches in NCAA baseball) to keep him. Won both SEC season and tournament championships two years ago. Got to CWS twice in last three years.

Extended Karen Weekly when Ralph retired (hired Ralph as an advisor to Karen). Approved hiring Chris and Kate Malveaux as hiting coach and softball assistant coaches. Chris is recognized as one of top hitting coaches. Team won season and tournament last year and got to WCWS. Currently renovating/upgrading softball facilities.

Extended head volleyball coach Rathman Watt with significant pay increase after getting to elite eight last year. Extended her husband Gavin as well.

Has Coach Barnes extended for five years. Got to elite eight this year.

Our fan base ranks among the most passionate in the country. The ideal coach for us IMO would be someone who is a hell of a recruiter with expedience going deep into the tourney, someone with a strong personality, not afraid to get after the referees at Thompson-Boling, rallying the fans as they once rallied behind Pat. However, Either way, any hiring decision is likely to leave a portion of our fan base dissatisfied, given the diversity of opinions and expectations within our fanbase.
