Coach Kellie Harper fired

Yes.

First year on job AD White did not retain Coach Pavon as women's head golf coach. Hired former LV Golfer Cantu.

Second year dismissed Coach Sullivan head coach of track and field and cross country. Hired Coach Duane Ross as head coach of track and field. Thought outside the box and hired Coach Sean Carlson as head coach of cross country and distance running. Only program in America with CC head coach. Six national championships in this area counting indoor, outdoor and cc for men and women. Both coaches extended last year with best showing in 15 years.

Hired Coach Joe Kirt as head soccer coach when Pensky went to FSU. Kirt tied for first in Eastern Division his first year after losing one of his best players.

Hired head football coach Heuple. Results speak for themselves. Currently in the middle of a $400,000 million Neyland Stadium upgrade.

Mutually agreed to say good bye to deputy AD Monica Lebron. Hired former Auburn AD Green as his deputy.

Replaced head rowing Coach Glenn (retirement) and hired Coach Kim Cupini as replacement.

Convinced baseball head coach Tony Vitello not to leave two years ago when Tony could have gone anywhere. Raised his pay to 1.5 million to keep him. Doubling LNS at a cost of $100,000 million dollars. Raised Pitching Coach Frank Anderson's pay (who is recognized as one of top pitching coaches in NCAA baseball) to keep him. Won both SEC season and tournament championships two years ago. Got to CWS twice in last three years.

Extended Karen Weekly when Ralph retired (hired Ralph as an advisor to Karen). Approved hiring Chris and Kate Malveaux as hiting coach and softball assistant coaches. Chris is recognized as one of top hitting coaches. Team won season and tournament last year and got to WCWS. Currently renovating/upgrading softball facilities.

Extended head volleyball coach Rathman Watt with significant pay increase after getting to elite eight last year. Extended her husband Gavin as well.

Has Coach Barnes extended for five years. Got to elite eight this year.
Got it. Replaced the women’s golf, track and cross country, rowing (retired) coaches, lost the good soccer coach and promoted the assistant, and extended everyone else. Brought the football Coach with him, of course. Thanks for the info.

Yeah, the reason I asked is because I thought it was confirmed that Danny was with the men's team on Monday so wouldn't even be available for in person. I agree that it's quite disrespectful not to do it face to face, but we see how corporate America does layoffs (disconnect network access and then send out an email blast), so it wouldn't surprise me either.

Probably by text or lackey.

I think I started that when I incorrectly posted the men’s team was playing their game Monday and White would obviously be with them,

I'm going to think the general atmosphere around the LV offices was probably not conducive to good recruiting vibes. Also hard to recruit when you don't know who the coach is going to be.

But someone could have just pointed them here where they could have been assured that AD White was going to make a home-run hire, and all would have been well.

Truly disappointed with this decision. Kellie deserved at least one more year. She is a class act and brought in a team of exemplary student athletes. I never worried about how Kellie, her staff or the team would represent my alma mater.

DW has shown himself to be weak and subject to which way the wind blows. He brought in a baseball coach that is an embarrassment to the university. That program is now known for vulgarity, poor sportsmanship and generally being a bunch of punks. I am tremendously concerned that the tradition Pat established of a national contender AND a class program is headed for the ash heap.

Just very sorry for a good person, good coach who has been treated unfairly by someone who isn’t even a member of the UT family.

I will continue to support the Lady Vols through thick and thin. I will hope for a new coach we can be proud of but now have significant doubts about DW’s judgment. A very sad day for UT WBB.
Lol. Tell me you know nothing about Vol Baseball, by coming right out and telling me you know nothing about Vol Baseball.

Concerned about the tradition Pat established as a National contender? Wut?
How many years has it been since the LV’s contended for a NC?

Why are you at war with our AD, brah? Put some cucumbers on your eyes and chill. The season will be fun. You'll see.

The utter ignorance and disinformation in this thread amazes me. The new coach will have the vast NIL resources of the Volunteer Club/Spyre at their disposal. Kellie Harper and her staff did not.
That’s not true. They had it on the front end of NIL but good try. Speaking of utter ignorance, you should have known that.

@glv98 look! 😩 she was so close to getting those funds!
Was she? The question I'd like EarlVolFan to address is will the coach have the vast NIL resources because the coach isn't Kellie? Was there donor unease bc of Kellie? Did the reorganization where new LV players get Vol Club resources happen only bc of a new coach or would that have happened anyway? Was this yet another instance of bad timing for Kellie or was it bc of Kellie?

JMO,,, don't claim to know a lot about basketball.
It seems as though a lot of people are blaming Kelly for the 1.1 fiasco lost at South Carolina due to her failure for defensive procedures. Cordozo shot was a fluke shot sometimes flukes win basketball games. If she had failed everybody would have been singing praises to Kelly. I don't know if this was the straw that broke the camel's back which led to her firing or just an overall downfall in the lady vol program
I think it was just a combination of things injuries ,, not being able to close big games from top notch schools,, and poor assistant coaching.

Definitely a fluke. Definitely still no excuse for leaving her completely unguarded at the top of the key.

Right. It's not that Cardoso made the shot. It's that she was given every opportunity to take an open shot. If the inbound pass was tightly guarded and SC caught the ball and threw it over their back and somehow it went in, then the criticism of Kellie wouldn't be there because at least Tenn did their part in defending the play. The fact that they didn't even bother defending either the inbound pass or the recipient is the reason why she (rightfully) is catching heat for the loss.

Wonder why John Harper is still listed as an assistant coach on the website? If they let Coach Kellie go, wouldn’t that make sense to let him go also? Doesn’t make sense. I have been thinking over the last few days what’s Kellie must be going through, her kids, etc. I hate seeing her go, but understand results matter. Hopefully whomever they bring in, will be the right fit, and Coach Kellie finds another door in the future for her.

I think Coach Kellie may have known her fate when we saw the NC State game. Jewel Spear got a steal, but the ref awarded TO to NC St before the steal counted, and Coach Kellie pleaded with the refs. She even had an emotional look on her face trying to plead with the refs. She also was very emotional after the game in conference post game.
