Coach Kellie Harper fired

I share your outrage. But it's easy for me, as I live about 1100 miles from Knoxville. But what has this got to do with “millionaire coaches” and NIL fundraising?
Just that fans who don’t make much money have trouble coming to the games as it is. But add on parking… I know local and surrounding area girls’ basketball teams like to come to games, and its
hard for them to scrape enough money together for tickets.

This would be weird (but what isn't these days), but the Green New Deal incentivized all sorts of things, from subsidies for electric cars and wind turbines to turning urban 4-lane streets into 2-lanes with bicycle lanes.

So what's the chance there's some kind of tax credit for jacking up event parking? I dunno how things are done here... I'm just visiting this planet, waiting for my green card to expire.

Yep.

I mostly agree with you. But charging $20 a game to park is outrageous. I’m financially fine, but I can’t pay $20 a game to park. Riding the free trolley is fine if you have lots of extra time. The Big Orange Screw.
Unbelievable that they charge that much for parking since they just sent out an email promoting $100 WBB season tickets...it costs more to park your car than to park your butt!

Send an email to earlvolfan@gmail.com and I'll send you a parking pass good for the rest of the season.

??? The Green New Deal never came close to being passed into law. So, there is zero chance that it is effecting parking rates for LV b-ball games.

The more likely answer is capitalism. If the market will pay more, you can charge more.

Excuses, excuses... Harper could have filed a lawsuit against the NCAA to allow her to donate her own money to the NIL. She had that right and did not do it. She wants poor people like me and you to buy her players for her while she rakes in millions of dollars.
I could be incorrect on this but I believe Kellie and Jon made a significant donation to the university. It was not for NIL but general academics. Someone double check me on that.
I believe the same is true for Geno and Dawn.

May a plague of locusts descend upon me for bumping this cursed thread yet again, BUUUT…let us consider the view expressed by a relatively new poster that KJH, in the normal course of her coaching duties: 1) should have personally sued the NCAA; 2) and then funded her own private NIL (and further added that she was a modern-day Marie Antoinette who forced "the poor people" to fund her team). That nonsense is Darth-level trolling. I am not making accusations just pointing out the suspicious similarities.

Pointing out like the desire for the thread to die but continuously doing your part to bump it back up. Almost as if you enjoy it. Marie Antoinette was also taken out swiftly but harshly. Locust may be more forgiving than Marie’s end.

Fans come in all forms. Well educated to the game/rules to the casual fan. When Athletic Departments overprice the average fan out of an experience, it’s easy to blame those with the inflated salaries with lackluster results.

She should've used that money for coaching lessons.

I get that ADs of major programs have huge responsibilities. But you can't check in on your WBB coach more than once a year? Seems strange, esp if she's struggling.

Easy to see that there was major communication breakdown btw AD and Coach for a long time.
I assume he looked at her results and previous history and knew it was a waste of time.
