I only see one superior program.....and it aint UT. By the way. Whats wrong with UT's talent level? If you are a superior program seems like you would have superior talent. OH....I see....Dreaming. Its amusing to me that you are putting that much faith into a coach that cant make an easy QB change to help his team.

Says the fan of the coach who switches QB's like changes drivers.

Once again you guys seriously need to go apply for the positions at ESPN. Those guys clearly have no idea what they are talking about. oh and that second longest winning streak in the country must count for absolutely nothing. THANK YOU GUYS SO MUCH FOR SHOWING ME THE LIGHT WITH YOUR STRIKING KNOWLEDE!!!

Well he knows how to beat JoePa, something Fulmer struggled with.

oh and that BCS beatdown you are referring to was 21 points. Iowa and USC who is gonna have the better talent??? yeah its not even remotely close. 21 points is in no such way a beatdown for the much less talent we had as you will notice the things USC has done to every other program in a BCS bowl(besides texas) i would say iowa and kirk ferentz did a great job. I would call a beatdown a 59-20 florida win over tennessee with much closer talent. now that is a beatdown of epic proportions

that was pete carroll's second year as a head coach so the talent you speak of really wasn't developed and that was supposed to be your best team ever. i'd argue that was a pretty lousy showing.

oh i guess your right i guess iowa did have talent comparable to USC. ahhahaahahah that is ridiculous. It is Iowa for gods sakes they are going to have no where near the talent of USC. EVER

Dont interject facts into this, did it matter when the germans bombed pearl harbor, he's on a roll, time to just get out of the way.

you mean the same great talent that had carroll at 6-6 the prior season and got paul hackett fired the season before that? and the same great talent that lost to washington state and kansas state that year? two programs that are just overflowing with talent right?

and btw what a loser mentality. "we can't possibly compete" :cray::cray::cray:

omg thank you guys so much for making me realize that kirk ferentz is such a terribe coach he is so overpaid and all those GM's in the NFL trying to hire him are just plain dumb. Thank you volnation posters for making me realize that he is such a bad coach. And thank you for showing me the true facts. I guess those guys at ESPN say all these things about him for absolutely no reason. ONCE AGAIN THANK POSTERS OF THE VOLNATION FORUM!!! YOU GUYS ARE SO SMART!!!

i'll pay you $100 if you find me a single quote from an nfl gm saying he wanted to hire ferentz and farentz declined. self serving quotes from ferentz and leaks from his agent don't count btw. and "those guys at espn" were the same ones saying ferentz might get fired a year ago and that he is overpaid.

Which Head Coach Would Scott Pioli Bring with Him to theChiefs? - Arrowhead Pride

Scott Pioli clearly wanted ferentz as the head coach i cant believe you didnt hear any of this whent the chiefs were looking for a new head coach. But once again ferentz declined just like he did many other time with NFL teams. He loves iowa and he will be staying there. I will try to find more proof but it seems very clear that pioli wanted him so i will be taking my 100 dollars now :)

Ferentz declines NFL interviews, will stay at Iowa - NFL - ESPN

And this shows that he doesnt interview with NFL teams. So why would this guy be mentioned so much when he has no interest in these jobs? because NFL teams want him. If kirk ferentz indeed showed interest back at them he would undoubtedly be a head football coach in the National football league. Sorry haters

I don't hate him. I do believe that to rank him above coaches that have acutally won something of note is a bit misguided.

well my definition of a great coach is a man who competes and beats other teams with much less talent. And kirk ferentz has certaintly done that. And yes all this point to you being a hater!

I didn't say anything that said anyone offered him anything. I saw rumors that a team may be interested in interviewing him. You're making too far of a leap.

Then as I said earlier, Johnson and Brooks should be on your list, and Meyer and Carroll certainly should not. I don't think they have ever had much less talent than anybody.

It appears that your list is comprised mainly of coaches that win big trophies plus the guy on the team you like. It is pretty hard to argue with your ranking if that is going to be the formula.

And furthermore, where are the offers now. Iowa has gotten worse. That doesn't happen with good coaches.

Fulmer is the reason UT is the way it is now. Kiffin will have UT destroying USC in a couples years at the most. Two coaches with great success at other schools went to your hopeless program and couldn't do anything special. That's when you know you should just drop football.

iowa has gotten worse? ahahahahahah open your eyes man they have the second longest winning streak in the nation. His last offer was in 2009 big guy thats where the offers are. You can expect more offers after this season. I will be taking my 100 dollars now please :)

Iowa has dropped off considerably since their one decent three year run under Ferentz.

Also what im trying to say is that you see kirk ferentz what he can do with much less talent and quit fighting it. it is indeed much much less talent. But what if he were the head coach of georgia or LSU or someother SEC school? yea scary. I will now rest my case I have ESPN and many of analysts and journalists backing me up. Oh and Scott pioli is backing me up. Those patriots have been pretty good havent they? I now rest my case as kirk ferentz is indeed one of the best coaches in college football. signing out but oh hey i would still like that 100 dollars :)
