Coach Power Rankings

If Kirk Ferentz was anything special, he wouldn't constantly be playing with less talent. Period. You lose.

Also what im trying to say is that you see kirk ferentz what he can do with much less talent and quit fighting it. it is indeed much much less talent. But what if he were the head coach of georgia or LSU or someother SEC school? yea scary. I will now rest my case I have ESPN and many of analysts and journalists backing me up. Oh and Scott pioli is backing me up. Those patriots have been pretty good havent they? I now rest my case as kirk ferentz is indeed one of the best coaches in college football. signing out but oh hey i would still like that 100 dollars :)

Some men you just can't reach.

oh and one more thing i just dont see how you can say the second longest winning streak in the nation is dropping off.... 100 dollars please :)

So what if he's coaching at Iowa? Are recruits not allowed to go there?

Which Head Coach Would Scott Pioli Bring with Him to theChiefs? - Arrowhead Pride

Scott Pioli clearly wanted ferentz as the head coach i cant believe you didnt hear any of this whent the chiefs were looking for a new head coach. But once again ferentz declined just like he did many other time with NFL teams. He loves iowa and he will be staying there. I will try to find more proof but it seems very clear that pioli wanted him so i will be taking my 100 dollars now :)

ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha

oh yeah you are right a 9 game winning streak in not impressive at all okay i get it geez its so easy to get one of those now a days. And recruits are allowed to go there of course but it just does not even remotely compare to the experience of football in the SEC. and the location is......iowa. yea nuff said bout that. It seems all these recruits interested in the vols right now just eat up the gameday experience and iowa just cant offer that. and once again i will be taking my 100 dollars :)

nope there was actually no bet. I cant remember who it was but they said they would give me 100 dollars if i found proof that he could be an NFL coach and i clearly did so once again i will take my 100 dollars :)

Rich Rod turned an awful program at WVU into a title contender and he's doing the same thing at Michigan. Which 1-AA team did he lose to? And please don't say Appalachian State.

Also, Davis won 8 games at UNC last year, and certainly has them moving in the right direction. You don't build teams like he did at Miami without being an outstanding coach. Way to early to say he isn't good anymore.

That would indeed be Appalachian State. Don't even try to start with Appalachian State's resume, either. Regardless of how good they are or what they have accomplished, a 1-AA team is still a 1-AA team. Hate to put it that way, but it is just reality.

My response to the thing about Butch Davis...He was a brilliant RECRUITER. I am not sure I put him in the upper echelon of COACHES, though. Just my opinion on that.

No, you didn't. Someone rumored that a team may be interested in him. No offers.

If he was good, he'd be able to get some talent in. He can't. Because he, like Iowa, is a fraud.

I hate to break it to you, but Rich Rod wasn't the coach of that Michigan team. Solid argument.

He took a Miami program on probation and made them outstanding. He's also got UNC in the right direction, but it isn't an easy process, because they've always been so terrible. Recruiting is a part of coaching in college football. People need to understand that.

He should be bringing in talent to Iowa if he's been there that long and such a great coach. Not like he's only been there 2-3 years. So there's no excuse. Recruiting is part of being a great college HC.

And Philip Fulmer also turned down many interviews for the NFL - so that says a whole lot, lol.

hahahahahah iowa is a fraud thats it!!!! so you really think that if kirk ferentz declined these interviews every year that he wouldnt be a head coach? or do all these rumblings just come out for no reason? And as you can see it is very hard to get talent in to iowa but he MAKES great players. He has had a quite a few and none were highly recruited out of high school. Robert gallery, bryan bulaga, bob sanders, dallas clark, aaron kampman, matt roth, shon green, chad greenway, abdul hodge. and many more. once again i declare kirk ferentz a great football coach who could coach in the NFL if he wanted to. It seems me and the guys at ESPN are on the same page here. But there is always a little forum poster in the world that disagrees. I know declare myself the winner of this argument oorah!! i am for real signing out now good argument dudes!

Teams don't just interview one guy. They may have thought about him, but you have no idea whether or not they actually were going to offer them the job. And ESPN never said anything to agree with you. Good for you to leave the argument, because you've been repeating the same non true fact for some time now.

That is very true about what he did at Miami and I will not dispute that. However, I will dispute that 8-4 in one season makes you a master coach in this day and age. For the record, I would like to point out that this season, they are 3-2, with wins over The Citadel, East Carolina, and Connecticut. Not exactly powerhouses. They also lost to an ACC bottom-feeder in Virginia (the other loss being to Georgia Tech).

I disagree, but I can understand what you are saying. Do you still stand by what you said about Rich Rod?

I feel really stupid about the Appalachian State thing now that I looked it up (my bad). BUT... I am not convinced that he can win without players like Pat White or Tate Forcier on his roster. He won't always get guys like that. It's those teams without once in a generation athletes and what they accomplish that define coaches.

He's only been coaching a few years and he got two guys like that already... It may not be too difficult for him.
