Coach Prime

I didn’t say he’s doing anything except bringing exposure to the program, from audience to future players from HS to portal taking notice. I’ve stated he’s a coach in name. No reason to bring up MacIntrye, Barnett, Neuheisel or McCartney those coaches didn’t take over a 1 win team in the playoff era.
You are wrong.

Granted, it was still two years away from the start of "the playoff era," but Colorado went 1-11 in 2012 ....

.... and Mike MacIntyre was hired as Colorado's head coach on December 10, 2012 ....

Mike MacIntyre did lead Colorado to road wins over both Oregon and Utah in his 4th season at Colorado in 2016, and they made the PAC 12 Championship Game. They were ranked #9 in the country going into the PAC 12 Championship Game vs Washington.

I will say it again ... Deion Sanders is doing nothing special at Colorado right now.

LOL. You are deflecting from the results on the football and the recruiting trail. All of that instant revenue is short lived, unless there is sustained success on the field.
The reality of college football today is it will be gone in 10 years, max. If a coach can come in and make some money for the school and make some money for the local economy, that's enough.

Looking down the road, I see court cases calling these players employees and college football being forced to "go pro" or fold.

This isn't 1960 and legacy is today. Flash and glitz and getting things sold is your legacy. There's no time to build an old school dynasty and recruiting machine. High school recruiting won't matter when players are employees.

You don’t say wrong then say two years away. Not sure Mike had over 10M watch a game in week 3.

Downtown Knoxville is better on game days than when Pruitt was there.

That is ridiculous.

No I said, 1 win team in the playoff era. You can go back and check your own bold.
LOL ... and 2012 being 2 years away from when the playoffs started is some kind of big difference?

The program that Mike MacIntyre inherited in December of 2012 was just as bad as what Deion Sanders has inherited ... and he had them ranked in the top 10 and playing in the PAC 12 Championship Game in his 4th season, with road wins over both Oregon and Utah.

Deion is doing NOTHING special.

In this case it is as you’re dipping 10 years in the past to somehow validate todays landscape as even the PAC is devolving with the changes.

The state of Colorado's football program was just as bad when Mike MacIntyre too over, as it was when Deion took over. That is tough to deny ... and quit acting like 2012 is the dark ages or something. The job that MacIntyre did, is highly relevant to a discussion concerning whether or not Deion is accomplishing anything significant at Colorado at the moment - he's not. Deion is teasing the Colorado fan base, with short-term modest success .... just like MacIntyre did.

you were the one who brought up a coach from 80s and you are now complaining about one of your OWN references from 2012 being too old when used against you?

That is ridiculous.
Not ridiculous. It's in the court system now in CA and at Dartmouth University. Just because it sucks to think about, and it does, doesn't mean college football has a long future ahead.

Edit to add the new Dartmouth NLRB petition.

How well you recruit high school prospects will always matter, regardless of how they are classified.

The take was no reason to bring up previous coaches from the non playoff era as they had no merit to today. He chose to somehow slip MacIntre into the playoff era two years out while claiming I was wrong. Might need to check the reference….as the “difference part” was him claiming I was wrong. In saying a 1 win coach, when I said a 1 win coach taking over in the playoff era.

Mike MacIntyre did coach at Colorado in "the playoff era." He was hired at Colorado just two years before the CFP began. It is amusing how you are trying to make it sound like 2012-2018 was the leatherheads era or something.

The job Mike MacIntyre did at Colorado is highly relevant to a discussion of the job Deion Sanders is currently doing. You were clearly unaware that Colorado had the same number of wins when MacIntyre was hired, as they did when Deion was hired ... but you want it to seem like you were clued in the whole time. LOL.

Pretty long answer just to say you were wrong.

I don't get the standard. did we ignore everything that happened at a school pre-1998 during the BCS era?

the coaches coached under the rules and the systems in place during their time. we don't ignore the standards set during that time. TN still thinks of ourselves as an elite brand/school based on what we did in the BCS, and even before. I am not sure how you can separate the coaches from that standard.

OMG ....

You said that Mike MacIntyre didn't take over a 1 win team .... or coach Colorado in the playoff era. His tenure at Colorado did include 5 seasons after the CFP had begun ... His first season at Colorado was just one season before the CFP started.

You seem pretty stubborn, and you are wanting to childishly split hairs, because you have too much pride to admit that you were unaware that Colorado had just gone 1-11 when MacIntyre was hired.. MacIntyre inherited the same mess that Deion did, but he won 10 games, beat Oregon on the road and took the team to the PAC 12 Championship Game in 2016.

And the rules and systems in place now are not the same as then. Portal and NIL allowed for more teams to get better faster.

@BowlBrother85 now which part of that last line are you missing? Mike wasn’t in the payoff era when he took the team over. Again, long answer to say you’re wrong.

MacIntyre went right back to 5 - 7 the next year and Oregon was awful in 2016.

MacIntyre had a lucky year and that record wasn't his norm at CO.
