True enough, but the teams you list above are all playing in lesser conferences with weaker schedules, save MSU, and I doubt they'll ever be king of the SECW with Bama, LSU and now A&M with Sumlin. You HAVE to have 4 and 5 star guys in the SEC AND coaching to win and stay competitive (9 to 10 wins per year) in the SEC. I just don't think this hire provides for that.

Better be able to coach, he's gonna have a tough time recruiting in this conference. Better get some hell assistance coaches that can recruit!

I am amazed and confused at the total lack of respect that Hart has for the boosters and the fan base!

This hire is ridiculous, Hart and Cheek should be totally ashamed of their actions.

I will not spend or give UT another dime until Hart is removed, and all who love UT Football as much as I do should do the same.

Support the team and players, but don't give the UTAD any donations, or merchandise sales!

Just watch the games from home until Hart is gone, and we hire an AD like Fulmer or Blackburn!

Go Vols, Fire Hart!!

This guy got slaughtered by the person we just fired. Explain to me how that makes sense. And don't make excuses about "oh well he plays in the big east."

If he were truly a good coach, he would've beaten a Tennessee team that lost to Kentucky that year.

Uneventful hire just like about every game for the last 8 years...I agree. Fire Hart... I can't believe we hired an AD from Alabama in the first place. What a train wreck ...

The only embarrassment to UT has been the comments of fans throughout the search. Had there been no forums for comments by fans, most all of whom are ignorant but think they know it all, there would be no embarrassment. It is you naysayers who cause embarrassment by criticizing every bit of information as it is released. I have never seen such idiotic remarks!

A couple of points to keep in mind...

1) This wasn't a three week coaching search. CDD was a dead man walking for a month before he got the boot. This search was at least two months long. Think about that for a moment. It took two months of searching to end up with Buth Jokes

2) What we all knew, and what Jokes and any other dullard Vol fan that isnt horrified with this news will eventually figure out, is that UT HAD to have a strong hire (ie- a national personality) to be able to compete in the increasingly competitive SEC. Butch Jokes has had no experience recruiting the South. He is not a KNOWN commodity ala Gruden that could overcome this handicap. He might be a decent x's and o's guy ( although losing to a Dooley coached team doesnt instill one with much confidence in his coach em up abilities) but he will be coaching a roster that is smaller, slower, and less talented than every SEC school he faces.

We are doomed. Fire Hart as soon as the presser is over. Hart screwed us. The University has screwed us-the fans. A life time of devotion down the drain. A century plus of tradition and excellence gone from this world. December 7...a day that will live in infamy.

Couple of quick points:

1) Jones hails from the coaching hotbed of Saugatuck, MI which has produced coaching legends such as......well.....hmm......Ok, next point

2) Jones played his college ball at FSU!! aaaah...Ferris State University.

Just for reference: Coming out of High School in 1983, I had 52 music scholarship offers, Including UF, UT, the other UT, Hawaii, and an offer to attend West Point. My football options were Olivet College, and Ferris State.


Ok. All that being said, Jones is a pretty good coach, worked his way up from the bottom. You have to appreciate that. And a pretty good guy.

Important to note that Derek Dooley's greatest win at Tennessee was when he DESTROYED Butch Jones and Cincinnatti. I have a bad feeling about this.
