its time to just accept it guys. he seems to be pretty solid of a hire honestly. 2-1 vs charlie strong....yeah he lost to dooley but you gotta remember that most big east teams will lose to the SEC due to just having more talent. we have to give him a chance, at least see who he brings in, and see what he can do.

im disappointed its not the dazzling hire we all hoped for, but really, he has a solid record.

Not who I wanted at all, but I kinda feel bad for him bec he has no room for error. I am just waiting to see his assistants befor I really make a decision. Hopefully we can luck out....

HOw long will it take for the salary/contract info to come out? Hopefully at least he can throw some big money at coordinators.,,

Butch Jones will be a good coach in the SEC if he can recruit. I did not say great. If he is able to bring the coaches he wants we should have some very good recruiters. I think with Bray, Patterson, Hunter and a couple of the linemen leaving this year he will have less quality to work with. There is still plenty of time to catch some of the special player we have been chasing. Let’s see how he holds this class together and if we can get a top ten class next year. Then we will know where we stand. I understand as poster on Rivals that there were five or six schools pursuing him including Wisconsin which has a very good program. If he takes the Tennessee job he must feel very confident he can be completive in the SEC as Wisconsin has a lot of good players coming back.
Jones had an annual salary worth roughly $1.85 million and had been sought out by Purdue, Boston College, most recently Colorado and potentially Wisconsin, according to sources.

Cheek needs to be fired. UT is a state school, not Harvard. Hart needs to be fired. UT needs to rebuild its football tradition, not field average teams. Instead of building a MEGAothilic sports complex, we should've saved that money and invested in a homerun hire. JMO

Everyone kept saying we were going to get a surprise hire, and I am surprised; just not in a good way. I thought Hart would be committed to rebuilding our football tradition. Why did UT spend all of that money on a football building, if they aren't going to be committed to hire their first choice to work there?

Welcome aboard Butch Jones, hope you can coach up less talent to compete against the best coached best atheletes in the country. I can't believe I got up for this. I'm going back to bed. Wake me up after the Oregon, Alabama, Florida, and Georgia games.

we will not have a list comprising of all 4-5 star kids, but then again , how many of those were signed by Boise State, Kansas State, Oregon State, Miss. State, Rutgers, Louisville ? Those programs are all winning, mostly due to coaching and player development ! What splash had Colin Klein , Mante Teo , Johnny Manziel or countless others made prior to getting to college ? It is about developing what talent you have , instilling discipline, and getting 18-22 year old kids to buy into your philosophy ! We will be fine under Butch jones and I hope he is here for the next twenty years ! He is a disciple of Brian Kelley, who was smart enough to scrap his spread offense he ran at Cincinnati , to implement a more pro style set and a stout defense to supplement the talent he had at ND , which hasn't been stellar in their recruiting in modern memory ! Go Butch !

Come on guys, some of you are acting a little immature. Yes, we missed out on some good coaches, but Butch Jones held out for us! He wants to be in Knoxville at the University of Tennessee. That means alot more to me than getting Gruden in Knoxville only for the money. As long as Tennessee forks out the money to get awesome coordinators, he will be successful.

I will support Coach Jones, but Hart and Cheek need to pack their **** NOW! THIS IS FK'N UNACCEPTABLE FOR TENNESSEE...A DISGRACE...PACK THEIR OFFICE AND GET THEM OUT! I WILL SUPPORT MY VOLS AND COACH JONES WHILE HE IS HERE, BUT GET READY FOR 3 MORE YEARS OF MEDIOCRATY AND MARGINAL RECRUITING....I'M SO SICK TO MY STOMACH RIGHT NOW....REALLY???? For all of those saying he's 2-1 against Charlie Strong, get back to me in three years and if he's 2-1 against Saban, Richt and Muschamp then we may have hired the right guy until then I've got a feeling that the SEC is gonna eat him alive.

listen bud...I'll always support my vols and coach, but DO NOT TRY AND TIE A RAINBOW AROUND THIS! This coaching search was a shame and has embarrassed fans and the university...so now is a good time to stop with the rah rah come-on guys!

Last recruiting classes for Butch (including this year): 54, 50, 49. Until things change, that is NOT GOING TO GET IT DONE. The SEC is a little different than the MAC and Big East...

Most people on Volnation kept blabbing about firing Dooley and Hart listened. Most people kept blabbing about why no coach had been hired and Hart listened. This hire is a good hire. No one is an SEC coach until they come to the SEC. Butch Jones has a record of 50-27 which beats the pants off of anything we've had in Knoxville for years. He has been coach of the year multiple occasions. He has recruits not only in the South, but as far away as California. He doesn't have any type of NCAA sanctions following him around either. He needs to hire some great coaches to surround himself with and get busy! Let's give him a chance. Go Vols!!

What recruits were wanting to play for Dooley his first year? Guys by the name of Rogers and Hunter.

All the whining in the world is not going to change it. I will take a wait and see approach. He wanted the job bad, and I will give him credit for that. Now it is he job to prove he deserves it.

Shut up and support the guy , he is the new coach of MY VOLS, maybe you all are just not that commited to your loyalty to UT !
