Butch is probably a pretty good coach but not what we need in THIS hire!

We need a name that will restore faith in our once great tradition.

This hire will hurt recruiting, hurt ticket sale, hurt UT merchandise sales, and hurt the Knoxville economy.

We are saving a couple of $$ on salary cost but will loose tens of millions in the long run.

Thats what we get when u hire a former basketball player from alabama.What qualifications does freaking Dave Hart have to make a hire of this magnitude.None absolutley none.Tennessee football has become a joke under Hammy and now Hart.Iam done you think this guy can recruit against Satan,Fla,Ga,ect....What a freaking joke we are done ....Sad Sad day to be a Vol.....

At this point why not just cut your losses and take Phil up on his offer and hire him back?

Did Phil = the first crop of choices?

Not by a long shot but we done passed that mark a week and a half ago and it was nailed shut Monday and Tuesday.

But at the tier we are looking at now, I'd feel much safer with Fulmer in charge than a dude who not only lost... got BLOWN OUT by the moron in charge that just got fired.

Maybe this will turn out like those teen movies. The guy wants to girl who is hot, but overlooks the girl who isn't popular. Then by the end of the movie the "not so popular" girl turns out to be smokin' hot. Maybe....

He has a total record of 50-27...

He has only had one losing season and it was because everyone left when KElly left...

If we hire a great Defensive staff, we could compete immediately...

We need to support whoever dons the orange and white, and give them a chance.

At least he has a winning record in coaching andhas been a winner everywhere he has been.

Soooooooo......... his record tells me that we will compete against vandy and kentucky but will lose to florida and alabama. Middle of the road woohoo. I will support him because i have to, not because i want to. He may turn out to be the greatest hire, but i have deja vu. And the logic of "if they get a great defensive staff" well if dooley had that this year....... jmo

Didnt last time we had a chance at brian kelly or sumlin. This time we could have got butch davis or a number of other better coaches?

If true, this is a sad day for Tennessee football. Not so much because of Butch Jones, but because the majority of the fan base will not be happy with this hire. If you thought Dooley had a short leash, this guy will hardly be given a chance from the fans.

I am not too pleased with the hire. I thought we could have, and should have, gotten someone more appealing. However, I will be behind this guy if he is our coach.

Go Vols.

This. No one intellgent wants to work for idiots. Strong, Gundy, Gruden (take your pick) knew they were idots. Until we have new leadership, the program will suffer.

At least he will have a recruiting edge over Saban and the rest....when he talks to a recruit he can tell them they will always be home for the holidays....UT doesn't play in Bowl games!!

Not about giving him a chance. Just as with Dooley, his future has been written and so has the Vols. Mediocrity for years and years to come.

I am so underwhelmed by this hire I cannot put it into words.
