Those saying he will bring his staff with him, I would be surprised. I would hope that Hart had at least enough smarts to lay it down that Jones would have lots of helps in picking his new staff. We need UT guys like Tee Marting and Jay Graham here. We need to keep Pittman for sure and possibly Chaney.

The whole defensive coaching lineup needs to go, but someone needs to help him make that call. They need to go big or don't go at all.

Recruiting should be a huge focuse when picking the staff. I am pretty sure they won't come simply because of Jones.

I will support him no matter what, but I do not like this at all.

I'm not happy about this hire. I have all off season to let this sink in and when football season comes back around; I'll support him and this team but he has a VERY, VERY short leash as far as I'm concerned.

I'm sure there are better options. For whatever reason UTAD couldn't or wouldn't make it happen. Don't like it but looks like we may have no other choice but to accept it. I'll give him his shot until its apparent he can't deliver. Then we'll go to the next guy.

Well this is an utterly crap-tastic hire. Time to run BammerDave back to Tuscaloosa. GatorCheek can carpool on the way to Gainesville as far as I'm concerned.

But hey, the good news is we'll be doing this all over again in 3 more years or so, and have even more buyout money we have to pay.

This is what I'm most concerned about. What makes you think he will be able to recruit at a high enough level to compete? He has a winning record which is great and all, but recruiting will make or break whether he is successful at UT. Lots of guys win games at the small to mid-major level based on x's and o's but you need more than that to be successful in the SEC. If he can't recruit his results will probably be mediocre at best.

What the players say after he speaks to them

What his plans for the Staff...bringing in all new or keeping

What type of ofense and defense he plans to run

What recruits out there are saying especially ones in our own backyard

I'm holding out opinion until we play a season. None of that stuff shows if we can win.

I'm not holding opinion. You guys can get all fluffed up and excited because you'll be excited whoever is the coach at UT, not I. I'm done for the foreseeable future. If Tennessee isn't willing to put in the effort to have a quality program, then I'm not going to put in the effort to send them my money.

Honestly guys, I am not thrilled about Butch Jones either, but lets look at what makes TN football. Watching this unfold, I followed for about 8 hrs. a day. Was ALL GRUDEN as most of us. Interesting thing that makes TN football what it is was watching 2 days ago on Louisville Football forum when Strong was deciding on his future. They had 20-30 users online and "replies" to posts averaged 15-20. At the same time VOL NATION had over 11000 users online and server crashes. The fanbase at TN is passionate to say the least. Butch Jones wants to be here and lets move forward and understand what he is inheriting. He taking over a program that has not been bowl eligible in the last 2 years with the bulk of "playmakers" more than likely moving on. GO VOLS and lets continue the great passion that makes ROCKY TOP what it is!

Where ever he has coached he has won , and that my friends is what the VOLS need !
All this talk this guy is not an SEC guy is a bunch of malarky, Nick Saban, Les Miles, Dan Mullen , Mark Richt , were not SEC Guys until the accepted jobs in the SEC and by golly they seem to be doing well ! He is OUR coach now and let us get behind 100% and support his assistants and OUR PLAYERS ! That is what fans with class do !
