Kiffin is definitely High Risk / High Reward. But I agree he does not seem like CEO material. He gets a "A" grade as OC, but that is balanced with a "C-D" as a recruiter--given the likelihood of NCAA inquiries. Finally who does he get for his Defensive Staff? Bring Wilcox along with him, again? I don't think any big-time programs come calling. Perhaps he gets a sniff at Fresno, FAU, or SJ State.

I think you are right. I think a certain set of our fanbase tremendously overvalues Kiffin at times. He will get another shot, but I don't see anyway a major program would trust him enough to hire him. A mid major is what the guy needs.

FWIW, I don't think he's ever worked with Wilcox. Dooley brought him here. Kiffin brought his Dad and O.

Got a buddy who is a Gator fan. He says a bunch of people on the Gator boards are saying Texas' 2nd choice after Hermann is McElwain. Don't know if it's true but it's definitely interesting.

Not happening, but would be bad news.

I would like Mac to stay at FL. They can do much better than him.

Kiffin won't be a good HC until he figures out that calling offensive plays is about 5% of the actual job description.

How could I forget ol' Monte. Maybe he would dust him off?

RE: Kiffin, the real question is would he leave Bama for another OC position. As mentioned before, if Orgeron were get the job at LSU, would Kiffin be willing to move over to Baton Rouge?

I'm going to say absolutely not. He's hitched his ride to Saban's coattails and knows the OC of a national champion (or two or three) Alabama is going to get him more exposure than trying to rebuild a system from scratch at LSU. And has a much greater potential for failure and falling into obscurity.

No, some team will eventually get desperate and hire Kiffin regardless of his history. It may not be a major team, but someone will hire him. But until then, he'll stay where he's at.

He is getting paid $1.4 million a year. He has it rolling down there. LSU would have to come up with some serious cash

Kiffin is like Charlie Weis. A coordinator and nothing more. He should just accept it and stay an OC. Easier job with much less stress.

Funny. I remember when JM was hired, a lot on here were scared because he was going to do great things at UF. Now they can do much better than him?

Our fan base will turn absolutely any coach rumored to be looked at by any school on UT's schedule into an absolute football god within 5 minutes of the rumor coming out.

Its fascinating.

"___________ is looking into ______________? That isn't good at all. He'd kill it there."

I think the real question is how long until Lane wears out his stay in Tuscaloosa? I don't think it's any coincidence that Cutty Sark is on staff now.

I doubt he's coming back unless the "rumors" are true that he's ready to move back to Texas. He served for six years on Grant Teaff and Chuck Reedy's Baylor staffs. Teaff is a pretty good motivational speaker...talked Jim Grobe out of retirement to run the show for a few months (wouldn't be surprised to see Grobe stay in Waco and take on a greater role with the AFCA than what he had in the past).

I guess time will tell.

didn't know he had ties. that could change things.

An interesting thing I saw today. Brian Kelly gets paid $1.6 million a year. Do they stick with Kelly or get ready to go way above what they are paying now for a coach

He makes more than that -- ND is a private school so they dont have to disclose the whole package

Teams are desperate for a coach who can bring in revenue and win. Look the contract Iowa gave Kirk Ferentz this offseason, through 2025 w/ an initial $25 million buyout. He'd get $22M even if he went 0-12 and was fired in 2021. He is one of 7 coaches with $20M+ buyouts. Jimbo Fisher has a $33M one.

I think kiffin could be a great coach honestly . He can coach up quarterbacks better then anyone , great recruiter , mostly great offensive coordinator . It's just a question of fit and maturity . Florida IMO is the perfect Job for Kiffin . He just needs a good defensive coordinator .

We already hate Florida as it is. This would certainly be icing on the cake.

Honestly, if he can become more of a recruiter/CEO type of head coach, I can stomach him staying. He needs to bring in someone new to run the offense and stay out of his own way.

I agree, thats the way it should be
