Coaching Carousel Thread

Honestly, if he can become more of a recruiter/CEO type of head coach, I can stomach him staying. He needs to bring in someone new to run the offense and stay out of his own way.

Perfectly said. Kinda like when JD McCoys Dad offered Eric Taylor the chance to remain at Dillon but give the offense up and run the program. Butch is no Eric Taylor though. Except for the slogans.

I see Petrino taking off this year, possibly. Jones would fit at Louisville except the Brohms have that job in the bag when the times comes. I could see Butch going to a place like Ok State, Colorado of Mac gets another job, Purdue (they wont pay up) or even a place like Indiana if it opened. I am not necessarily rooting for his departure, but I would understand

A name to look at for Oregon is Bob Stitt. That would be insane. I can see Craig Bohl getting a P5 job because of NDSU.

A list I saw for Oregon on ESPN is : Bohl, John Harbaugh, Stitt, PJ Fleck, and Whittingham.

Id hire Kiffin at Oregon in a second. Good fit for all and I think he would want to be closer to his kids in California. For their sake, I hope he gets job out there.

No way in hell..... kiffin is a fast track to sanctions. I can think of plenty of other coaches that would be a better fit.

Why would Petrino leave? He's in probably the third beat conference, boosters willing to shell out $$$ and the program is on fire. He won't inherit anything better and there's maybe three programs out there he can build more powerful than what he has now and the chances he pulls that off aren't very good.

Looks like Rich Rod and Brian Kelly are goners for sure

Butch may be wise to bring in Rich Rod and let him run the offense that he practically invented. Butch "learned" from him but I'm not sure he has the grasp of it like Rodriguez does. Rich Rod would have offensive weapons here like he's never had before and he's an above average recruiter. It might be someone that Butch completely turns it over to and trusts.

JD thought he was bigger than the program, kind of like Hurd?

That is a very interesting scenario! I wouldn't mind that at all!

I don't trust CBJ to bring in someone that he feels is near or above his level.

ABSOLUTELY NOT!!!

Give him a head coaching job and watch the NCAA slap sanctions on his employer.

Exactly what I have tried to tell some morons who actually thought we should forgive and forget.

You folk in Oregon can be smart fellers at times.

Yea I'll stick by my earlier post and hope I'm in the majority.

This has been a very tough year to be a Duck football fan. At least basketball is starting and we can move on to a team that looks to be pretty good.

Our offense looked pretty damn good against Kentucky. I'm not against bringing in a new OC if a great one can be hired, but we're going to take a step back offensively next year with a new, relatively inexperienced QB, who will not run like Dobbs, and with Kamara gone.

From Notre Dame AD today...

In other words, Brian Kelly needs to find a real estate agent!
Probably, ND has a tradition in that they don't like to be seen as firing coaches, they just do not renew their contracts. Seems Kelly's is just about up, if he's not gone this year, he's gone next year fo' sho. If Urban does not beat Michigan this year, his chest will begin acting up again and he'll seek divine intervention at Notre Dame after Kelly is my prediction.
