Coaching Rankings.

Point out the 3+ lottery picks.

BPV, i never said anything about them being lottery picks. You said Izzo has never had "that kind of talent" which is not true. Dont try and change the subject. Since you brought it up Peterson(21st pick), Cleaves (14th pick), Randolph(19th pick), Richardson (5th pick). ALL FIRST ROUNDERS.

I think over the next 3 years donovan wins 6 ncaa games minimum. I think you guys have not seen his classes coming in or do not understand them. When the curse of starting dan werner is over, donovan will be back. Boynton and patric will win plenty next year and even without a front court he managed to beat izzo...

I also hate coach ks guts...he is definitely a top 10 coach but I do not think he is top 5.

Dixon and howland are very good coaches, obviously I like the boeheim and self coaching jobs done...

Cal is the most overrated coach in this thread by a lot. Barnes is a joke...give pearl durant that year and see what he does with that roster

Also, I would wager and say that Billy D. won't anywhere win six games. He hasn't won any in the last three years.

Awesome. I hate Duke as much as anybody, but just because you hate a coach's guts doesn't mean he isn't top 5. Coach K is easily a top 5 coach and had he not stupidly stop recruiting top talent he'd have about two more titles in my opinion.

Dixon is a very good coach. So is Howland. Howland does need an excellent year next year though.

Cal is not a good x's/o's, but he's the best recruiter in the country other than Roy Williams.

So, would you consider Bobby Lutz and Jerry Wainwright as top five coaches?

I don't know if I know what I am talking about, but didn't Cleaves blow out his knee or something?

Coach K isn't a top 5 coach?

Are you serious?

Look at his resume, countless ACC titles ( regular and tourney ), he has the Final Fours and the rings to boot.

Plus an Olympic gold medal.

Ok this is my last post. Thanks everybody for a good discussion, got me fired up. Nothing personal and I respect everyone's opinion. Donovan being top 5 can be debated. I think he is and would take him as acoach anyday. I was getting fired up because people refuse to give him any credit. People saying he is not top 10 is absurd. Yeah he hasn't done much since the titles but it's only been three years and they had a mass exodus and his leaving to orlando and coming back hurt his recruting. He is a good coach and a good man. (Coming to the outlive fundraiser) how many other coaches on rival teams would do that? I think Self and Huggins are great as well. I'm was just saying they haven't accomplished as much as Donovan. Anyway great discussion.

Cal knows people that know how to "recruit".

Now his ability to put kids in the NBA is a main attraction, then again, who couldn't "put" Derrick Rose or Tyreke Evans in the NBA?

By the way, UNC recruits itself.

Calipari started his own fundraiser for the Haiti victims. Yet most people would say he's just slime.

2000 : Jason Richardson, Zach Randolph, Morris Peterson, Charlie Bell, and Mateen Cleaves beg to differ and have a championship ring they would like to show you....
If Zach Randolph has a championship ring, he stole it. He wasn't on the 2000 championship team.

We were talking about how UK would have been this year if Izzo took over at the end of last year. So yeah, the single recruiting class was a big part of it.

So Izzo(arguably best coach in the game) going to KY of all places(arguably the best job and tradition in the country) is not gonna attract TOP recruits? Your crazy if you think otherwise....

I'm not even going with the whole Calipari thing because it's been beaten to death. In my opinion, I believe almost everyone cheats somewhat in recruiting. Does it make it right? No. That's just the way it is.

I understand that point, but I also think you have to look at how those guys have had immediate success more so than where they are drafted.

Possibly. It's part of it. You can say the same thing about a lot of places though. You still have to bring them in.

That group doesn't touch the single recruiting class tgat brought UK back, which was exactly the premise. There was nothing else.

That team was talented at MSU but doesn't remotely compare to what Calipari just did.

He would probably get some damn good recruits. I'm willing to bet he wouldn't have gotten the number 1 and 2 recruits, as well as some other great players in his first year there.

The vast majority of the one and dones want nothing at all to do with Izzo's style.

No, his team was pretty damn good. Have you watched them since then...nothing to write home about.

Kentucky was a pretty good team this year..Calipari didn't win any National Titles.....Syracuse has had more than 1 good team but that's all the NTs Boeheim has won...Coach Krzyzewski has had more than three good teams but that's all the NTs he has....

To win a National Title you have to have a really good team with a really good coach and like I said for those two years he was damn good....

Like I stated in the last paragraph of my original post, I don't consider him a Top 5 type coach right now....

I'm just saying that Derrick Rose/Tyreke Evans/John Wall/DeMarcus Cousins and so on, would have been beasts with Cal or not, they all would have been high draft picks.

He didn't make them elite talents, they were elite talents when they stepped on campus.
