Coaching Rankings.

Coach K isn't a top 5 coach?

Are you serious?

Look at his resume, countless ACC titles ( regular and tourney ), he has the Final Fours and the rings to boot.

Plus an Olympic gold medal.
Coach k looked amazing back when wojo was slamming the court...he looked like crap the last couple years. His not recruiting talent era was better talent than pearl had, and yet k flamed out over and over...

If you saw k last 5 years you would say he is nowhere close to a top 5 coach...he is living on the past.

I also am positive pearl will have a better resume than calhoun by his age

Kentucky was a pretty good team this year..Calipari didn't win any National Titles.....Syracuse has had more than 1 good team but that's all the NTs Boeheim has won...Coach Krzyzewski has had more than three good teams but that's all the NTs he has....

To win a National Title you have to have a really good team with a really good coach and like I said for those two years he was damn good....

Like I stated in the last paragraph of my original post, I don't consider him a Top 5 type coach right now....

So it is just a coincidence that he was a damn good coach when he had damn good talent?

Chances are he will win another title this year...I have to believe that they are the odds on favorite to win...even though I got WVU winning the game, I just hate Duke.

I'm intrigued by your eclectic choice of teams.

How does one become a the C's, the Titans, Tennessee, and the Braves?

Vols and Titans because im a Tennessee native and these have always been my favorite teams (BLEED ORANGE BTW). Celtics because I grew up watching them with my dad when they had Larry Legend, McHale, Ainge, Parish etc... long before the days of KG, Pierce, and Ray Ray. And last but not least, the Braves because the first game I ever went to of any kind was Braves and Reds in Cincy when I was 5 at Riverfront Stadium. Pops said i cried when Braves lost, and ive loved em ever since. VOLS are def. first in fandom order, but I LOVE my other teams just as much....

Nice.

H has had some really good payers but he has never had players that just blew you away.

Exactly. Matern and Mo Pete, no world beaters, carried them to a title. Makes his approach all the more impressive. Certainly the bypass college rule and now 1&done have helped immensely, because the college game is no longer about absolute dominators.

I'm just saying that Derrick Rose/Tyreke Evans/John Wall/DeMarcus Cousins and so on, would have been beasts with Cal or not, they all would have been high draft picks.

He didn't make them elite talents, they were elite talents when they stepped on campus.

I'm not denying that. What I was saying was that Evans (probably) and Rose are rookies of the year at the PG position. You know how many top-10 PG's picked in the draft falter those first few years?

That group doesn't touch the single recruiting class tgat brought UK back, which was exactly the premise. There was nothing else.

That team was talented at MSU but doesn't remotely compare to what Calipari just did.

Doesnt remotely compare? really? Since Cal's boys made it all the way to the round of 8 this year. I guess winning the title and have 4 1st round selections on your team doesnt remotely compare to that.....Also you cant say that because these MSU boys are proven NBA players that produce. Wall and Cousins have yet to reach the NBA, until they do there is no comparison.

NO WAY, Izzo has landed top talent and will continue to land top talent as long as he wishes to coach......

Then why can't you point me to an MSU recruiting class that is even in the same ballpark as Cal's last class?

You keep dodging this question.

Yet Coach K has an excellent chance to win the title this year................

And while I know how much of a Pearl homer you are, I'm shocked you would say that. You are trying to say Pearl is guarenteed two titles, multiple FF's, and excellent NBA players? I'm sorry, but that is going wayyyyyyyyy beyond the limb.

I see what you are getting at...I'm not saying that he didn't help them develop but those that give him credit for putting those guys in the league are morons.

I still think that they are rare talents and would have flourished no matter who coached them ( barring the absurd, of course ).

More like, delusional sheep.

Could you name me the last productive NBA player Izzo has produced in the last four years?

One time class went from NIT to 1 seed and overall 2. I'm not arguin what happened after they got there. No doubt izzo coaches circles around most, Cal included.

I'm not giving him credit for putting them in the league and I understand that position. I'm saying that what makes his track record impressive is how they have quickly adjusted from day 1 in the league.

You know what...I didn't even read the last line of his post...truly hilarious stuff...could it happen? Sure, anything is possible, just ask KG.

Is it likely? All signs point to no.

Indeed...still think that they would flourish regardless.
