Coaching Rankings.

The only one that could go over Donovan is Boeheim. Donovan has more final fours in less years than Huggins. Self has had one championship and not much else. Donovan still has more championships and the same amount of Final Fours in less years. Alot less. And may I remind you of all those great teams Florida put out before Donovan got there? (Yeah Kruger got a final four) but other than that were one of the worst basketball programs in the SEC.

Self has one championship and not much else? REALLY?

Cincy and K-State were struggling before Huggins arrived there. West Virginia wasn't exactly a powerhouse when Huggins arrived either.

Self has been more consistent in the tournament than your hero, hence why he is up there.

What? You don't remember all the other regional finals Tulsa has played in over the years?

But TU's history is surprisingly solid. Self is their best, but Nolan is up there.

James "Country" King and Shea Seals are badasses.

um.... didn't coach cal coach that one team that went 0 for a bazillion in a row from 3 while they had the probable #1 pick in the draft sitting on the post just watchin the bricks crash down?

there was something else about "free throws when it matters" as i recall.

yeah... coach cal is a great coach!!

So just to re-cap what we have learned so far:

1. According to Kidbourbon, not only is Cal a better coach than Izzo and Coach K, KY would NOT have been as good this year with either Izzo or Coach K leading them instead of Cal.

2. According to Bigorange34232, Billy Donovan is a top 5 coach ( which would technically have to make him better than one of these coaches to be top 5: Izzo, K, Boeheim, Calhoun, Howland, Pitino, Huggins, Self,etc...)

It's very solid. However, Self did something that Nolan, J.D Barnett, Tubby Smith, et al couldn't.

Explain to me why Donovan isn't top 5. That's all i'm asking for. All I have seen so far is opinion.
Because it takes special ability to follow up back to back national titles with back to back NIT appearances. If I hired him today, I very much doubt he would accomplish anything. Therefore, I wouldn't hire him. It's not that difficult.

I fixed point 1. You didn't misquote me, you just underquoted me.

kidbourbon and bigorange34232 would make a dynamic duo. you guys could be the pinky and the brain of volnation.......

So getting to an elite eight with a bad school makes you top 5? Larry Eustachy is getting ready to go to hall of fame.
