College Hoops Around The Country [TN opponents, RPI, others]

I’ve long held the opinion that UGA is a sleeping giant in the SEC. For whatever reason, they’ve just never put it all together. It must be a lack of commitment to the program from the athletic department, but they hired a “name” coach in Crean, they have ample instate talent, and there isn’t another elite instate program to compete with. Tech does have more historical success, but they are currently ACC’s version of Vanderbilt.

Auburn was the doormat of the conference before Pearl took over, so with that level of commitment from UGA’s administration, there is no reason to believe they can’t make a similar leap into relevancy.

I had thought when they got Jim Harrick that they were making that commitment and it looked like it was happening but then of course it went to crap.

So if Bellarmine holds on and wins the ASUN tourney Championship then they can’t go to the NCAA tournament since they are ineligible due to transitioning from D2 to D1. So therefore the NCAA bid would go to Jacksonville state would lost in the semis but won the regular season.

I don’t know how to fix this but there has to be a better way than this. Jacksonville made it to the championship but the bid goes to a team that lost in the semis

I agree and I think the way to fix it is to dump the silly four year waiting period on making the NCAA tourney after transitioning from D2 to D1. If you win your conference tourney, you qualify for NCAA tourney, simple as that.

Just saw wher LSU just got notice of allegations from the NCAA. Bad look for LSU that will make Will Wade as talking point in the SECT. Remember when we had to hear the announcers talk down UT during the NCAA 30 point loss to Michigan led by Bruce Pearl was definitely a low point for UT Basketball and bad for the program.

After I found out what the transition is really for the NCAA is truly the worst. If there’s one school that can survive without receiving tournament earnings it is Bellarmine. They should be allowed to be in the tourney. It’s a complete misstep by the NCAA.

Notable Tuesday Scores:

#17 Saint Mary's-69
#1 Gonzaga-82

Jacksonville-72
Bellarmine-77

Wagner-43
Bryant-70

How about that dude for Bryant doing push-ups after made buckets. I’ve never seen someone be allowed to be such a hot dog on the court. Holy ****
Being the leader scorer in the nation must have went to his head. Really interested to see what he does in the first round game considering they will be going up against a 1 or 2 seed most likely

Also I did not realize how much of an off year both Syracuse and Flordia State is having. Syracuse currently winning by 30

Totally agree. There's no reason why Georgia shouldn't be far more competitive than they are. I wonder if they at least kick the tires on Rob Lanier?

Turning around a basketball program can happen in one class with the portal. They have a decent core of everyone stays and stays healthy.

Agree with the portal comment. Now a days you don't even have to recruit HS kids, go out and load up on good players with experience and fill your gaps or rebuild just like that...
