College Hoops Around The Country [TN opponents, RPI, others]

Always weird seeing small schools like Stetson getting to play their conference championship game on their home court. Just feels like an unfair advantage lol.

Yep, I get that UVM is a great program relative to most of America East but playing each tournament on the higher seed's home court is insane and why Vermont typically represents the league.

17-15 Villanova getting in over Indiana State would be a travesty, but feels like we are definitely trending that way. But when the Sycamore’s get snubbed the people pushing for expansion will just use this as a talking point for why we need 96 teams instead of, ya know, just not putting in P5 teams that are barely over 0.500.

Most of us know this but some folks want to comb through the game threads after the final buzzer to pick out posts that were clearly made out of frustration at a particular moment of the game. They'll bump those posts and call you a troll, negavol, or horrible fan. I don't get that, but perhaps it makes them feel like a super fan.
Who cares if you say something negative? Why is that such an issue for some? Just offer a rebuttal or move on

Is nova on the right side of the bubble? I would’ve thought they would for sure be out unless they beat Creighton yesterday

How the hell did they come up with six ejections?? Should have been just one imo.

Leaving the bench is an ejection from the current game. Fighting is a suspension from the next game. The announcers corrected themselves, but initially they said that they’d only have 5 and 6 players available for the 1st round game. Only a couple were ejected for fighting.

I’m surprised that Angel Reese wasn’t one ejected. All bark I guess.

Oh yeah, completely forgot about the bench rule. Still seems like overkill to me.

For those who think conference tournaments doesn't matter. Go tell these one bid conferences that, 3 great games today.

They matter but mostly in the 1-bid leagues. But also they really shouldn’t matter as much as they do. I wish the auto-bid went to the regular season champion. Eastern Washington just lost in Round 1 as the 1-seed for the 2nd straight year. That’s must brutal. 31-5 and they lose to 10-23 Sacramento State and their season is over.

Yup, regular season is way more impressive, give that the auto. If you must still play the conference tourney let that winner go to NIT.

Eh, Purdue is going to retire Zach Edey's Jersey. Announced today during last home game vs Wisconsin.

Yeah. I wouldn’t mind a compromise either where P5 conference tournaments get the auto-bid and non-P5 it’s the regular season champion. If you are a 1-bid league, I just don’t think your entire season should hinge on the conference tournament.

I hope Indiana State makes it, but they will likely get bumped if a team (or teams) who would otherwise be out, wins their conference tourney. The Sycamores also have only one Quad 1 win.
They're 26 in the NET ranking, which is supposed to help account for the lack of Quadrant I opportunities.

The NET, like the RPI, is an index that establishes the quadrant tiers.

I’m not sure how they are 26th, but the NET has some flaws. I looked at their schedule, and they played 2 P5 non conference games- Alabama and Michigan State. They played 3 MAC teams, and that conference isn’t very good. Teams like Indiana State have to schedule tougher to give themselves a chance if they lose in the conference tournament. It’s better to play a P5 team and lose than play Tennessee State and win. The MVC also plays 20 conference games, and I don’t know why. Teams should be lobbying to play only 16 or 18 to add a few more non conference games.

Lunardi has Indiana State as last team in the field . TIFWIW I see some think Lunardi is the selection committees water carrier...
