College Hoops Around The Country [TN opponents, RPI, others]

I think you're right in that the narrative has shifted, but I do think significant things happened in the last several days, too. I don't think anyone saw Tennessee limping in with a 2-gm losing streak where they appeared to have never shot a basketball, UNC losing to the lowest-seeded team to ever win the ACC title, and Arizona losing 2 of 4 to finish. Meanwhile, Iowa St. just laid in wait and demolished the #1 team in the country by 28 on a neutral floor and won the conference tourney title in the best league in America.

Would it be recency bias to elevate them to a 1 seed? Absolutely. Will it happen? I don't know, but this morning Jerry Palm has them as the last 1 seed.l, so I won't entirely discount the possibility. Lunardi has Carolina.
Palm’s projections are many times head-scratchers. I don’t think there’s any way Iowa State leapfrogs us, UNC, and Arizona to the one line. They’ve been behind those three all year and one game doesn’t change that.

Barstool column lets B10 basketball officiating have it. Glad that a national outlet, albeit not really a news outlet, is calling out the B10 for officiating Zack Edey as if he’s in bubble wrap.

An interesting chart. Iowa State deserves the final 1 seed, but when you look at this chart our SOS kind of blows the other 3 resume’s out of the water. If we had just won on Friday, I think we would have been the 1. Disappointing.

I don't think anyone was beating Miss State that Friday. Plus we played like we were hung over.

Idk, I feel like we've went from "The committee completely disregards the conference tourneys" to them being the real center of conversation in terms of placing similarly situated teams in like two weeks. I would be floored if Iowa State was the 1, and would think it obvious recency bias
Winning the regular season SEC title is tougher than winning the Big 12 tournament but no doubt that was an impressive display by Iowa St and they’re a very good team.

I get but take care of business and we’re not having what if conversations. We laid an egg against UK and then laid a giant egg against MSU.
With how it ended up going down I think beating MSU would’ve been enough. There’s still a chance but my guess is it will be UNC.

You guys take conference tournament titles way too seriously considering almost every 1 seed got put out, the regular season title means way more.

The teams on the bubble play with their hair on fire because they didn’t take care of business during the season, but do we really have anything left to prove in the SEC? We get a banner just like the auburn or Florida winner does so who cares at the end of day the team obviously needs rest after that stretch..

If the SEC cared about basketball they would have the same schedule as the Big east in terms of their conference tournament starting earlier. UConn gets an extra day of rest compared to the SEC teams in the final..

People aren’t upset that we don’t win the conference tournament. People are understandably frustrated with how we played. There is a big difference. We got blasted and are playing awful basketball right now entering the most important part of the year.

We had a #1 seed to play for and we already laid an egg against UK and then we came out and looked absolutely awful. Let's stop trying to spin this even more with the "bubble teams playing on fire", we didn't show up at all. MSU played well but not off the charts. They were very beatable if we even remotely showed up.

I get the "Regular Season Rick" people are going overboard but the ones trying to act like it was meaingless are imo about as ridiculous. And yes the problem is we don't know if the SECT means anything or not because the criteria changes every year so you almost have to go in defaulting to that it does matter.

If we had beaten UK and beaten MSU and lost to Auburn yesterday, and still didn't get the #1 based on everything else, then fine, you can complain. But when we didn't do our part, sorry, you only have ourselves to blame. You control the things you can control, when you don't you open it up for outside factors to decide your fate.

I’ve been watching sec basketball for like 20 years if you know the history of conference tournament titles and why it was a way different concept then it was back in the day you would not have that opinion but you are welcome to it…

We got blew out by Texas A&M during the season did that carry over into the whole season? No? okay end of argument lol see how easy that was to dispel?

That is not the same thing at all. We have not been on a 2 game losing streak since November against much better competition, too. There is a wealth of history that shows one-and-done teams in their conference tournaments perform poorly in the NCAA tournament.

It’s a pretty simple concept that you want to be playing good basketball headed into your most important stretch. A road loss to Texas A&M 4 weeks ago isn’t concerning. A home loss to a Kentucky team that doesn’t play defense and a barrel job by a bubble team in MSU on a neutral site is plenty of reason for concern.

Exactly....Getting manhandled by a 8-10 conference team the way we did is very concerning.

The past 2 games we've looked like a team that's satisfied with reaching their goal of winning the SEC regular season and forgot there is other goals out there...I hope they didn't spend everything they had left the past 3 week grind and the tanks empty.... Since they hoisted the SEC trophy they've looked like crap.

The UK loss is not that concerning to be honest. Not many teams have a player who can shoot 7-9 from 3
