College Hoops Around The Country [TN opponents, RPI, others]

The UK loss is not that concerning to be honest. Not many teams have a player who can shoot 7-9 from 3

No, I’m not that concerned about the defense. But that same Kentucky team just let A&M score 97 on them the very next game. They have let most teams put 90 or 100+ on them and if not for Knecht going for 40 we may have been beaten down worse. The offense in that game is what concerns me. It’s becoming a trend.

That is not the same thing at all. We have not been on a 2 game losing streak since November against much better competition, too. There is a wealth of history that shows one-and-done teams in their conference tournaments perform poorly in the NCAA tournament.

It’s a pretty simple concept that you want to be playing good basketball headed into your most important stretch. A road loss to Texas A&M 4 weeks ago isn’t concerning. A home loss to a Kentucky team that doesn’t play defense and a barrel job by a bubble team in MSU on a neutral site is plenty of reason for concern.
Lol how’d that work out in 2022? Wait did I just dispel another argument again? This is alarming how easy it has been …

Exactly....Getting manhandled by a 8-10 conference team the way we did is very concerning.

The past 2 games we've looked like a team that's satisfied with reaching their goal of winning the SEC regular season and forgot there is other goals out there...I hope they didn't spend everything they had left the past 3 week grind and the tanks empty.... Since they hosted the SEC trophy they've looked like crap.
😂😂😂😂 the takes are so bad on this board it’s comical at this point same drivel every year

I think he means we won our conference tourney and then laid an egg in the R32
Which really addresses a whole other argument, since now we’re discussing whether bad play translates into the tourney rather than good play. The year prior, 2021, is probably a better comparison to this year

Using one example from one team out of 68 each year is not the successful argument you think it is.
That’s not the point 😂 doesn’t matter if you are going into the big tournament on a heater or not based on history which was why I brought up 2022.

This is a brand new tournament and one that actually matters…if we suck you guys have every right to chastise the team and the coach, but shouldn’t we actually wait till then to make absolute statements of a possible collapse that we have seen over and over from certain posters so far the past two days.

I get it you guys are upset over we lost but the season isn’t over and the negative attitude over that possibility helps no one and provides little to no value to the board…

2022? If you’re talking about UNC and Kansas who both made it to the title game that year, neither of them lost their first game in their conference tournament.
Oh so we are talking about Kansas and UNC now not Tenn? I brought up 2022 obviously to dispel the notion that winning the conference tournament doesn’t mean you will do well in the NCAA tournament. Also UNC was a 9 seed that year if I remember right so even better argument if you would like to go that route…

Ivy League title game is remarkably good. Yale has had one player hit deep threes on back-to-back possessions but Brown (losing record overall) keeps responding, up 4 with 1:00 left to play.

You are arguing something completely different than everyone else on this thread. No one is “chastising” the team or saying this team sucks. We have pointed out that this team has been trending in the wrong direction. Obviously, they could figure it all out and make a deep run, but it’s not exactly easy to flip a switch from 3 weeks of poor offensive performances to quality offense overnight. Sure, it can be done, but the performance Friday doesn’t inspire confidence and is a worrisome trend when considering how other teams that have gone 0-1 in their tournament have performed in March.

You brought up a point to dispel an argument I wasn’t even making. No one here said winning your conference tournament guarantees you success in the NCAA.

Bottom line is the ncaa tournament is a crapshoot the fact we still have fans on here who can’t grasp that concept either means they are willfully ignorant or just don’t care…

We had a #1 seed to play for and we already laid an egg against UK and then we came out and looked absolutely awful. Let's stop trying to spin this even more with the "bubble teams playing on fire", we didn't show up at all. MSU played well but not off the charts. They were very beatable if we even remotely showed up.

I get the "Regular Season Rick" people are going overboard but the ones trying to act like it was meaingless are imo about as ridiculous. And yes the problem is we don't know if the SECT means anything or not because the criteria changes every year so you almost have to go in defaulting to that it does matter.

If we had beaten UK and beaten MSU and lost to Auburn yesterday, and still didn't get the #1 based on everything else, then fine, you can complain. But when we didn't do our part, sorry, you only have ourselves to blame. You control the things you can control, when you don't you open it up for outside factors to decide your fate.

You brought up a point to dispel an argument I wasn’t even making. No one here said winning your conference tournament guarantees you success in the NCAA.
Yeah you right Mookie I am responding to an echo chamber, just take a look at the history of the guy quoted above you…

This IVY league championship game is starting to go nuts. If Brown pulls this out they will punch their ticket to the big dance with a record of 14-17. They were 6-17 before rattling off 7 straight wins to make the championship game. If they win, we may be looking at the worst 15/16 seed lines we’ve ever seen. Which can only mean one thing….. MADNESS.
