I’d probably give the nod to the Big 10 for second best. Big 12 is better at the top but the Big 10 is deeper and did have some OOC success, including against the SEC. Some of those Big 12 resumes are built entirely off other Big 12 teams.I mean... this year I'd say basketball conferences are as follows
1. SEC - 7 in top 20 of Kenpom, 6 in top 20 of NET and only 2 teams are outside top 55 NET
2. Big 12 - 5 in top 20 of Kenpom, 5 in top 20 of NET with 7 teams outside top 55 NET
3. Big 10 - 5 in top 20 of Kenpom, 5 in top 20 of NET with 8 teams outside top 55 NET
Edge to Big 12 though because they have 4 teams in top 10 NET and Big 10 has zero
Big East is really just 4 good teams this year. ACC is really just 3 teams and then a big drop to the 4th best team (SMU). WCC is just Gonzaga & Saint Mary's (again).
Bama better find some defense. It's at Bama, and Bama is probably poised for a bounce back game ( which will be good for us) but for some reason I think Florida takes this game with Bama. They just have the better team, IMO.
I know one thing, Bama better hope they win this game because Auburn is going to out for blood Saturday.
I don’t disagree with you, but this seems to totally discount the overall conference strength of the SEC along with the w/l record of SEC teams against the other conferences. And this is why it is incredibly difficult to see the selection committee leaving out the clear, dominant winner of that 2nd best conference in favor of a 3rd SEC team. Houston has won 21 of their last 22 games, won the Big XII by 4 games, owns 8 Q1 wins, and is 9-0 on the road. If they beat Baylor, I see no way they are left on the outside looking in at a 3rd SEC team, which is why I think Tennessee needs as much help as they can get. I think only one of Tennessee, Florida, and Bama are getting a 1-seed. Hope I'm wrong, but I wouldn't count on getting in over Houston, so it will have to come at Bama and Florida's expense.
I read a Rick Bozich article yesterday where he broke down almost every name that has been mentioned. He closed it by saying two inside sources have said there is a mystery candidate that hasn’t been mentioned, and it was a veteran coach who wants the opportunity to do what Miller and Woodson couldn’t.Peegs.com said Mick Cronin is their top candidate. Hoosier fans not happy said they would rather take a flyer on Brownell from Clemson
They totally do sometimes, but this is NOT they way it is supposed to work. For all those complaining about TBA being too quiet at times, while bama has been struggling to score and trailing their crowd was pretty subdued. Maybe crowds respond to quality play?
