Coming after Vitello

Yuup…maybe I am not so wrong about CTV’s “worth” after all huh?

That’s different though, if Corbin’s contract is loaded with incentives. If that is correct, over a third of his salary is based on performance.

There are a number of managers in the SEC that are right behind Corbin’s base pay, and Vitello should get paid among that group.

I have never said otherwise.

The opening contract offer that I laid out was heavy with incentives but guaranteed him $1 million next year.

Just my thoughts.. Some are selling CTV a little short. Is his motivation only money from your perspective? I see a coach that is more worried about the young men he coaches and also the fans that come to see these young men. Right now he is gearing up to play in Omaha.. One story written about the letter he has from the ladies mom he keeps in his desk along with the baseball plaque made for him.. This man is deeper that money and contracts I believe. These posts about if his contract is done not done or announced etc... He will be taken care by of by UT and I bet he will be the first to say so if asked... He isn't worried. He has put a lot of time and effort into this program and the young men he coaches and is seeing the results come to them, that's his passion.. The facilities or his current status didn't play into that, it was set... His vision for the program and these young men are his motivation.. One poster let us know that he built his business and retired early.. Did this person get this business handed to him or did he take it from nothing... Investing years of work along with his vision going into it to make it successful before retirement? I could be totally wrong about CTV... But he seems to be a guy that has a vision and wants to build something here... AD DW will help him achieve that.. He does strike me to be a guy driven by greed..

It's possible to have high levels of integrity and get paid a lot of money at the same time..not mutually exclusive

I totally agree.. I mentioned that CTV knows he will be taken care of.. I do not believe that is his worries at the moment as some suggest.. I bet he isn't taking any calls from other schools either... Just my belief

The biggest competition IMO is still open. Although I did find this:

Mike Bianco, Cliff Godwin are focuses of LSU baseball coaching search: sources

If Bianco takes LSU…then I might get worried, until then…

I haven’t been to Swayze, but what makes it one of the best? It was built in 1989 (by the city). That helps when the local government pays for it. But they’ve expanded twice with the second completed in 2009 at a cost of 18.5 million. I know LNS has some limitations, but it was built later, and it seems to me that a $35 million renovation would go a long way.

I think that's fair. Swayze is a really nice ball park although it isn't in the same tier as Dudey Noble and Baum. Though to be fair very few are. Their atmosphere/environment is one of the best in the country which makes it more alluring as a whole rather than it being one of the most aesthetically pleasing. I think that mix is why people hold it in such high regard. A lot of LSU fans were complimenting them on the experience actually being better than the new Alex Box.

And I agree completely - 35-40M @ LNS when used in the right ways would be a game changer. I don't think it's possible to catch up to the Baum Walkers, Dudey Nobles and O'Grates of the world without a complete tear down and rebuild, but we can still put together a very nice renovation and give the players, coaches & fans something to be proud of.
