So much doom and gloom in this thread because a couple of supposed insiders have said TV is on the highway out of here after Omaha. I think sometimes people act like we’re fans of Southwest Missouri State instead of the University of Tennessee. White is not going to let another SEC school poach our manager. Chill. He ain’t leaving.
I basically want our new AD and the administration at large to prove that they also know they're at the University of Tennessee. Time to act like it.So much doom and gloom in this thread because a couple of supposed insiders have said TV is on the highway out of here after Omaha. but I'd like this to be an opening salvo from Danny White that demonstrates a renewed commitment to winning across the board. This is absolutely going to mean ponying up big time money and making big time promises, but unless we're content getting bullied by our SEC counterparts, it's what has to happen.
New AD might become UTAD White if he finds a way to keep CTV.
As of yet, nothing he has done has warranted us learning his name.
If he fails we can use the baseball terminology "STRIKE TWO"
Swing and a miss on getting us a top football coach.
Also, Tony V to Ole Miss makes zero sense if we are thinking of baseball as a “business” like some of our insiders keep saying. Why get in a bidding war for TV with us when you could just go snag Godwin out of ECU for far less who I keep hearing is the next big thing? If that’s true, coming after Vitelllo seems dumb.
His recruiting classes would say he should’ve won a lot more than he has nationally and in the league. He and DVH were hired at the same time, one averages 16.5 SEC wins in the toughest division in baseball while the other averages 17. One took 2 years to get to Omaha the other took 9. One has to sell kids on coming to a remote town/campus the other gets to sell one of the fastest growing, most vibrant cities in the nation. One has a standard to sub standard education to sell the other has a top 10 education to sell. One has had the same results he enjoys today, once before, at another “remote” institution in a sparsely populated state one we’ll never know. One gets to do it with an advantage only matched by a handful of institutions, one of which the other guy’s isn’t.Yes…YES HE IS

I’m comparing Van Horn to Corbin, never once mentioned Vitello. And you think Corbin is the proprietor behind Vanderbilt offering full need based aid to all students? What he can do is only available to him because the school does it for all students. I doubt Vandy decided to use their ridiculous endowment to cheapen education for all students for the benefit of 27 baseball players. Highly doubt the word baseball or athletics ever came up in the board room when that decision was made; that would imply Vandy actually cares about athletics. He took the Vanderbilt program, back in 2003, when they had far far far less to work with facilities wise and player wise then Tennessee did 4 years ago. He has built that program from the ground up to a national power year in and year out. He is responsible for coming up with ways to get the money that VU can now offer these young men.
Everyone can always be an armchair coach. But you cannot deny that he has built, one of the best programs in the country from scratch. And might I mention, without a huge big beautiful stadium for the best players in the country coming out of high school, to come and become great.Facilities are for the fans. A great coach does not need a huge new stadium to bring in great players. The players come to play for a great coach.
I firmly believe that in another few years CTV can get to that level also. But to say he is there now is ignorant.

Regardless of the outcome Vitello has shown the college baseball world that you can win at UT and the type of program it can be. Another up and comer would look positive on those facts.Recently, there were 'leaks' to media that White was prepared to pay Tony what it takes to keep him, and pay to upgrade facilities to Tony's suggestions. I believe those leaks were White speaking to Tony, and publicly, to tell him what he wants Tony to know without it being filtered by his agent, and also what he wants the fan base to know: he will do whatever it takes to keep Tony, but if that isn't enough, then it isn't on him. But he's also sending Tony and the fanbase another message: Now that he knows the fanbase will support it, the UTAD will commit to a national power baseball program whether Tony is the coach or not.
We got more important things to worry about the next week and half hopefully than him leaving...he isn't going anywhere...manning and pratt will not let it happen..
That’s it…ALL talk is now restricted to opponents, line ups, rotations and all things BASEBALL.
How DARE people discuss the actual reason for THIS thread.
Thank you!
I know your post is sarcastic, but nothing said in this thread is based on anything other than conjecture.
All year long, this has been a thing and it makes it damn hard to enjoy the accomplishments of this team and staff. I wish it had been put to bed a long time ago, but for whatever reason, it continues.
I can’t stop people from speculating about the Coach, but I can suggest, these kids don’t deserve any distractions, it’s just 4 days, can’t we just give it a rest?
GBO!!!
Exactly! Tennessee is doing, and will do, everything within reason to keep him. If he chooses to leave, it won't be because UT didn't try.Russell Smith says Ole Miss has let it be known to Tony V’s people they’d be interested if Bianco leaves. Sexton has also advised Vitello to hold out on signing the extension with UT to let everything play out. UT has apparently given Tony everything he’s asked for.
I don’t think Tony wants to leave, but he has all the leverage right now. It would make sense to wait it out and squeeze everything you can out of this run. I mean, he could bring a natty to the table in the next two weeks.
If the players or the coaches are on Volnation, then social media should be banned for them for the next two weeks. It’s ridiculous to say that anything that we are discussing here on ball nation is going to be a distraction for the coaches or players.
Not even I am THAT important.
