Coming after Vitello

That has to hurt to say to say that! lol I’m just a fair person. I’ll always be an LSU fan first and foremost, but I’m an SEC fan also. And I want what’s best for the SEC. And as highly as I think of CVT, I think he’s a better fit at UT. I think he would succeed at LSU as well, but I just believe he’s where he’s suppose to be right now.

I think TV is a perfect fit for us as well, but you just never know with these things. His persona and demeanor are definitely a match made in heaven for Knoxville. He scraps. He has fire. He's not afraid to be the villain sometimes. These are all traits that have kind of defined a fanbase that hasn't had any "real" success in any sport for nearly 2 decades.

But, he also is well spoken, honest, great behind the mic, and he is IMO pretty classy.

Win or lose tomorrow, I hope y’all have enjoyed the ride. Success is never a given. And never let the fools from other fan bases tell you how to handle the success, as I’ve seen several of them try. 20 years is a long time, and any fan base has a right to be as excited as they want after having a season like this. I for one am happy for y’all. I mean, I’m not happy y’all whipped us 5 times this year, but what can I say other than congrats?! I’d be an a$$ if I said anything else. So again, best of luck tomorrow, and I hope we have better luck against y’all next year! Oh, and if y’all really want to keep CVT, build that man his new park, and give him and his staff some more $$!! Otherwise, you’ll be having this conversation every year! This IS the SEC!

Classy post. Appreciate the kind words and you guys are gonna be absolutely loaded next year! That Morgan kid is legit! Good luck and don’t take our coach! 😜

As an LSU fan, you’re exactly right. The Rant (Tigerdroppings) has been an unmitigated disaster in regards to our coaching search for some time now. It’s been quite funny at times, but mostly it’s just annoying with the ridiculous rumors and downright lies being spread. I don’t think anyone has a clue who’s going to be hired honestly, and I think that’s exactly the way Woodward wants it. Personally, I don’t think it will be TV, but I also think Woodward wouldn’t be doing his job if he didn’t at least attempt to interview him. He’s a damn good coach as you all know. But I think TV stays a Vol in the end.

Welcome to the VolNation Baseball board, TigerMan. It’s great to meet a rational LSU fan. 🙂👊🏽
Appreciate your post. I agree with you about Woodward. He intentionally likes to keep folks guessing until he pulls the proverbial rabbit out of the hat. As for The Rant, it certainly is chaotic with regards to the plethora of threads about the coaching search. I recall lurking on several of our message boards during the Schiano debacle coaching search and it was chaotic for us too.

With regards to CV, I won’t be surprised if Woodward tries to get an interview with him and if CV listens to what he has to offer. He has earned the right and holds all the cards. Having said that, I’m confident that White, UT’s administration, and boosters are all on board with wanting him to stay at Tennessee and are willing to make the financial commitments to keep him, his staff, and invest in the LNS upgrades needed. I also think he’s a better fit for Tennessee.
We gave him his first head coaching job four years ago, and he values loyalty.

So, we’ll see how this whole thing goes. It’ll be an interesting few weeks for sure.

Thanks again for posting.

Thanks for the visit, like you, most of us over here are pretty good fans and just enjoy college baseball. Of course every fan base has there few…..
On another note, you’re going to be loaded offensively next year, how’s your pitching shaping up? Of course pitching may not matter if you score enough runs.

Thank you! Glad to be here! I’ll do my best to stay rational. But, football season is just around the corner, so no promises!! lol

Buzz Williams was a power pull? If you say so, and giving Jimbo Fisher a ridiculously stupid contract wasn’t a power pull. Peterson to UW had more to do with his son than the AD
Buzz Williams has won everywhere he’s been, it’s not like AM is a powerhouse in bball, so given their history it was an above solid hire on paper and he was a sitting P5 HC, Fisher had ties to LSU and turned them down the year before, so sure the money helped but LSU is a better job, easier job and more nationally relevant program yet he didn’t choose them. Peterson’s son was fully recovered and cancer free prior to him moving to UW.

OP said the guy has a history of HR hires and you discounted it by throwing out 2 names who weren’t his and then tried to double down. Woodward has made great hires and LSU is baseball royalty so if any of their programs have a shot at a big guy it’s baseball combined with this AD.

Our pitching will depend on who come back, which I’m not sure of at the moment. I’ll have to get back to you on that! We have a solid group of freshman coming back at other positions though (Morgan and Crews are the biggies!). It should be a really solid group for whoever we land as a coach.

Last sentence there…absolutely!

😂😂😂😂 with regards to football season! Noted and I totally get that. 🙂

In all seriousness, excluding our coach, I do hope things things work out for you with regards your head coaching search. Y’all have a talented roster returning and will be back in the hunt for a great postseason run very soon. It’s great for the overall strength of the league to have many strong programs.

Appreciate your classy posts. 👊🏽 Feel free to post as often as you’d like.

As much as I love my Tigers, and as much as that would have sucked for the Vols and the SEC, it would have been a huge thrill for me as a Wright State Alum. I would of had mixed emotions, but it still would have been a thrill nonetheless!

No doubt! I can appreciate that for sure, I was certainly rooting for the Blue Hose versus Vandy, unfortunately…

GBO!!!

Yes without a doubt. You have no in state competition for recruits at LSU. LA Tech is a decent program and was a national seed this year but they aren’t going to get kids LSU wants. Here you have to compete with Vandy who has been the premier program in the sport for the last decade.
Except I don’t see us and Vandy recruiting the same talent on a broader scale. Opportunity Vanderbilt enables them and they take advantage of recruiting nationally, especially picking off the best the northeast has to offer. I believe there’s enough in-state and regional talent that Vandy can’t/won’t/doesn’t have to touch for us to still be competitive.

Agreed. Vandy gets essentially 27 scholarships vs our 11.7 plus a few academic or financial aid scholarships mixed in. A good analogy would be like the payroll of the Yankees vs Rays. With the new NCAA rules, the private schools with huge endowments like Vandy and Stanford have significant advantages in baseball recruiting.

TV is hurting them a little with Early recruiting on young instate guys. This CWS run is making at least a few instate kids second guess their want to go to vandy
