Concerned about our QB situation!

I'm really concerned about our QB situation. I love Coach Jones and I'm sure Worley's a great kid BUT.....I don't think he's the long term answer. Yes, he can "manage" the offense and make the intermediate throw (although not very accurately)...but I seriously doubt he's going to be the playmaker that we need under center. His arm strength seems to be a serious issue, as does his ability to handle pressure in the pocket. I'm sure many may disagree and say "he's young, it takes time, yada yada...but I've seen too many young and inexperienced QBs make serious noise for their respective teams. I'm betting we have more "talent" waiting in the wings....even if they are "young and inexperienced" themselves. Go Vols!

Since early July, I have been saying that Worley will lose his job after the Florida game. Peterman will be the q.b., starting with the South Alabama game. Then once the season is over, Worley will transfer to another college to try to find a starting job. ( Nick Stephens, Brandon Stewart)

Once we play a close game, in which we lose the game due to a couple of incomplete passes that were obvious wide open touchdowns, had they been caught, then Worley will be benched.

Worley understands the offense and he reacts, rather than thinks about decisions. So, that is a very good thing, but he can't get the ball to the receivers.

Peterman may not know the offense in and out, but the passes he does throw will be accurate and in the air and not on the receivers shoe tops.

Now what on earth would posses you to worry about Worley? Ha ha ha. Now some folks are suddenly worried about our QB situation? Folks, what did you think Worley was going to do in this offense? It's meant for an athletic QB that, at a minimum, can be somewhat of a run threat and be an accurate passer. How many times did Worley run the ball today? I just am flabbergasted that folks appear stunned that the QB situation is below par. Get used to it his season.

I'm not trying to be Debbie Downer, but damn folks, try to be realistic. It's nots Jones fault. It's just the situation we are in this year. It will get better. Next year Dobbs will be running this thing, and we will all be excited about the offensive system Jones has implemented. But this year, it's kind of like trying to fit a square peg in a round hole.

Have you been following the Vols long enough to remember the success that Ainge and Schaffer had as TRUE Freshmen?? We've got two potential studs that may warrant a look!

My guess would be Butch looks at them everyday and has concluded Worley currently gives them the best chance to win. But of course I could be wrong and Worley starts despite the superior talent of the freshmen and Butch doesn't know half as much about evaluating QB'S as you. But I doubt it.

Yeah I mean God forbid we be concerned about anything right? That means you're not a Vol fan! Sheesh.

No, more like God forbid you be SATISFIED with anything.

We've beat the holy dog sh!t out of our first two opponents and it has been non-stop *****ing on this board on everything from sprinting down the field ,to the kickoff bounce, to questioning CBJ's ability to pick the best starter at QB.

The Coaching Staff and players are giving their all and deserve our respect and support. As a Vol fan you should give that, or take your disloyal asses outa here and support another team.

I agree with you. I never expected Worley to make a lot of noise. His mechanics and arm strength really limit his ability. Again...I'm sure he's an awesome kid but at the end of the day.....?

Lord forbid you allow a kid to grow into the position and the opportunity to improve from game to game. Last time I checked he's doing that. But hey lets not trust this coaching staff after seven turnovers.

You need to get on the phone to Coach Jones, he has obviously overlooked two potential all-americans. In all seriousness though lets let our coaches evaluate the talent and decide who should play or we terminate the entire staff and we the fans vote on the starters each week, vote the game plan, and vote who subs during the game. Sound rediculous yeah, like some of these posts. GBO!

You can still be a VOL fan, enjoy each and every win, but still be able to point out concerns moving forward. Think about it...we're doing the same thing the coaches do after every game.

as well as all the other young guys too because we are gonna get waxed anyway against just about everybody except Kentucky and the directional AL school.
Oh we might luck up and beat Mizzou or Vandy too, but I doubt we beat them both.

Dude this might be the stupidest post ever. Explain wasting a red shirt on a season that you already are calling a loss?

Worley is not the answer at QB and everybody knows it. He did play better in the 3rd qtr, but he is what we have for this year. Dobbs will be the qb next year, and he will be better, but he won't have this offensive line. This is going to be a three to four year rebuilding process and we might as well get behind Jones and the team for the duration! I still rather be a vol fan than a fan of anyone else especially Vandy!

That was kind of a train wreck and Ainge got ruined for two years because he got man-pounded by that defensive end for Notre Dame.. He was not the same after that ... Nobody wants to play true freshman qbs if they don't have too...

They might as well play you at QB, it would make about as much sense.

Yes, sounds logical---start a freshman in front of Oregon. Almost as stupid as what Dooley did with Worley last year.

Why do we even show up? Butch should pack it in and wait till the 2014 recruits to get here. Team 118!

Well done.

Pretty amazing how some folks think. The Worley led offense scored 38 points against a team that easily beat a fellow SEC school we lost to two years ago, while not having the ball in their possession due to the D's Pick 6's on two occasions - yet he is not a good QB to some. The Worley led offense scored 6 TD's in 6 possessions in the first half against AP - yet he is not a good QB to some. The Worley led offense has only had one penalty in two football games - yet he is not a good QB to some. The Worley led offense has only had one TO in two games - a meaningless late pick today. When it mattered to start the second half today, the Worley led offense efficiently drove the field twice in their first two possessions to put the game away - yet he is not a good QB to some.

Could we at least wait until the end of the season to rate the performance of the QB that the head coach and coaching staff, that EVERYBODY on here says "gets it", decides is the best one to give the team the chance to win? Personally I think Butch and staff may be right. Just a hunch. lol.
