Cooper Leaving

Strictly a bad joke. I have no knowledge of an incident involving Te'a beyond the rumors posted here.

Enjoyed watching her play and was looking forward to more...

But if the speculation on this board is accurate, unlike most here, I personally doubt CHW handled it in the best manner possible. Not a Holly hater, nor a fan. Just an uninspired long-time observer.

It wasn't a joke,strictly curious.

Personally I admire the way Alabama handled the dismissal of their star player Hasina Muhammad back in 2015 for a similar incident.
It was cut and dry, truthful to the public and press. No sugarcoating. No cloak and dagger drama. "The truth will set you free" and a distorted truth profits nothing.
We teach our children to tell the truth and nothing but the truth at all cost.

T'ea's transfer was not requested but still ended up being amicable and Tennessee and Holly will stand behind T'ea so that she can move on and succeed. The incident happened outside of basketballl. It would've been different had it been a heat of the moment fight during practice because that happens in every program.

Okay, that makes sense. On the men's side, fights on the court or in the lockerroom happen and while they might draw some disciplinary action, generally they do not lead to a dismissal (unless a recurrent problem).

I was wondering if there was a double standard for the women but it this happened in a conventional social setting, then I can see how this alleged event would have more serious ramifications.

Simply put players are saying they are not having fun playing for her or the Lady Vols. It's boring and most of the time, our ladies look like they are bored, they would rather be any place else than on the floor.

She has to change some thangs up! Players need a voice, not for just using them to market the Lady Vols brand, but behind the scenes, the day to day, and game day!

Forget about the reality TV, can we get back to playing competitive and inspired basketball with or without Cooper!

Did Cooper kill the other player? ijs

I'm not sure how this, if true, can be construed to have happened "outside of basketball" if it occurred in the presence of other players who were encouraging and videotaping it instead of breaking it up. It would seem to have some serious ramifications for the team whether it happened in the dorm or on the court. [The school may have its own disciplinary regulations for fighting in student housing as well.]

I totally agree. I think there are things going on within the lady vol program that cant be good right now. I am sure our low level university official deerfart knows some things, but he/she is too busy being condescending and argumentitive against other posters here to articulate anything noteworthy. You would think these insiders and ppl close to the program would be a little more welcoming, instead most of them spew their self righteous and holier than thou attitudes against other well meaning lady vol fans here on a fan forum. With declining attendence, maybe they should be more concerned with job security. I hope holly doesnt have these same feelings about fans that these other morons obviously have

And from the inside, since everyone had inside information.

One of the main reason the gurl have been underperforming, and not playing for Holly, cos they (more than one, talked to recruits too) say the Lady Vols are ran like an ole slave plantations, its so ole and stale, the Lady Vols players does not have a voice in anything, and being a lady vols is no fun!

If Holly doesn't modernized the Lady Vols brand to include this hip generation you are right, she will be done. "Its' the Lady Vols, and you love the history but you don't see where they are going," from a top recruit mouth.

Being a Lady Vols, you have to give up so much up of yourself, and you have no say!

But Holly and the fans forget, WE (the players) do have a say, the lady vols said, with our performance.

Holly, let the gurls have a say or at least meet them halfway. They play the way they do, cos they don't respect you, cos they don't feel respected.

Stop tap dancing around the issues facing your program. The main one, I am coaching for the fan base and not you the players. The players feel it! And we the fans see it with their play! The show up for the games they want too, cos they don't respect you or your process of building a team. Since you won't give them what they want, they won't give you what you want, WINS! SEC Championship, playing hard 40 minute per game. There is no trust! There is little respect!

Wasn't your favorite slogan
"I back Pat and roll with Holly" ?
It appears as though that roll has hit a bump in the road.
I forget, did you go to UT ?

I remembered this article that ran back in March. In relation to your post there are several comments in DeShields answers which seem to line up with your post.

Bad blood between Middleton and a couple of prima donnas/friends with attitudes? Yea, a possibility that might explain the departures.

Bingo!

Now, let's talk basketball. There were constant complaints (I was one) about Cooper's play her freshman year. She was out of control most of the time, error probe, with shooting woes from inside and out the arc. She's a Trump-esque me-me-me type player with no regard for teamwork. Transfers are iffy ... we may never hear from her again.

Middleton is a streaky shooter with slow feet. Not a big loss.

As for the freshman, the truly great ones start FOUR years, so we can only hope Wesrbrook is everything the experts tout.

This team's success goes through the big three, period. One thing Westbrook definitely can do is pass the ball.

Go LVs!

Every championship team, I played or coached on players fought. Championship teams and players hold each other accountable, a competitive spirit, and fire its bound to happen, hopefully, the players can work it out, themselves. I was a fighter, I didn't tolerate laziness, I'm giving 100% and u giving 70 or 80 oh no we boxing. I am trying to win championship bih!

Now, if Holly, let Cooper go for fighting, welp shame on her. She wants valley girls, that look good for the fanbase, takes awesome photos. ijs Where the ballers at?

I remember Diana telling me about all the fights she had at Uconn, cos she would not tolerate lazy play or mental midgets and she took scrubs to championship. Need I say mo.

Or hearing from Holdsclaw all the shouting matches they all used to have.

Cooper if u were dismiss for fighting, this is not the kind of team you want to be on, lady vols for the past couple of years lacked accountability and toughness from the head coach on down to the players, if you're not willing to fight for what you believe in, you are as good as dead.

Lady Vols are not tough, Holly your girls are not tough mentally or physical, let them work it out, of course, protect a player safety, but aye fights happen.

Cooper, I bet u whoop who ever it was ass. huh. Cooper losers don't fight, don't speak up, don't stand up for anything, please don't be one of those people.
Te'a goodluck young lady, and always fight for what you believe in and don't tolerate excuses or half ass play!

Coaches, tend like team that check themselves. But when you keep seeing your coaches keep giving certain players passes, whatcha gonna do?

Or Maybe Te'a don't want to play for a coach who want get in her face, and challenge her to be the best player possible with their processes, and actions everyday. Diamond, Nared, Cedes, its too late to leave now! Imagine if they left, Lady Vols program would be in shambles.

Cooper = Most overrated player in recent history. Selfish, inconsistent with a me-first attitude. No big loss IMHO.

I don't know the ladies personally but what I do know since Pat left and Holly took over we have lost that dog mentality. We had players back when Pat coached and her last recruiting classes who wasn't pushovers/didn't take no mess. It seems with Holly's classes she has been getting nice girls who are happy to be here. As a player and a coach I always was a scrapper and preferred players who scrapped.

We had players like that (The Miques, Glory Johnson, Hornbuckle, Anosike, Candy Parker, Izzy, Meighan Simmons) and it seemed like Holly stopped looking for those kinds of players or shall I say doesn't want them to play that style of ball. (I know Diamond, Te'a, MeMe, Greene, and Nared don't take no mess) and I can see it in Rennia, Evina, KK, and Anastaisa (2017) and it definitely is in MiMi Collins and Massengil (2018).

It's like the only games we really saw the don't take no mess mentality is when we played teams people thought we didn't have a chance to beat.

I back Pat and roll with Holly!

However, yes that roll hit a bump but we are still rolling, just slower than expected.

The jury is still out! Sue Bird, says she is going to be a great guard. We shall see.

And before we say fire Holly, let's see how this play out, now if this moves improves team chemistry or make us a better team, than heyyyyyy. I'm all for it.

But no I would not be asking her to be fired. She earned the right to right the Lady Vols ship!

Cooper is a tough kid, I hate to see her go!

Yes it was...on every post. P4L is back singing a different tune this go around.

Nah it the same tune, I back Pat and roll with Holly, we just rolling a lil slower than expected.

But I was not happy with last season's record or play!

This team, hopefully they will play for themselves cos its most of our top players, senior year but they do not respect her!

But there will be no fire HOlly chants or beating a dead horse in the mouth, No!

I like to see how people or coaches respond to adversity! This is a pivotal year in the Lady Vols program!

But am I a lil pissed off. Hell yea! Lady Vols basketball, we are tougher than you!

If the relationship between CHW and the players are as bad as everyone seems to think it is, why did two players predicted to be high draft picks decide to return?

I don't think anyone's saying the players don't like Holly. They probably like her a lot. But what most of the posters here are saying is that Holly is not doing a very good job of motivating the players and demanding consistent effort and excellence. She's more like one of the girls as opposed to an authority figure.

Let's at least be honest. Their draft stock is independent of CHW's level of competence.

The narrative here in the past 2 pages is that Holly runs the players in the program like slaves on an "ole plantation," they don't like being driven like that, and they want more say in the program...and now that Holly isn't demanding enough effort and is too much like "one of the girls."

Plus the statements that Holly should have forgiven Te'a because we need more fight in the program, and that it's promising that Holly is finally taking control of the players and the chemistry issues.

Seriously? I don't think we can have it both ways.
