Could we beat.......

And by the way, I'm not asking to win the SEC every year, but I am hoping to win it every once in a while! Dang, Urban Meyer's in the SEC 2 yrs, and is already going to Atlanta

How many years are we gonna keep saying this about Fulmer? It starts at the top, instead he'll get another pay raise, that no matter how bad a year he has there's no way he'll be bought out and then if he was have the money to lure a Top Notch coach. Year after year after year.
Regardless of the perception of the program declining over the years, it is kind of hard to justify firing that is just 4 years removed from winning the National Championship (post 2002 season), or after coming off two 10 win seasons. The only time one could really justify firing Fulmer was after last season. However, he did let Sanders take the fall and has done all the right things so far to right the ship.

If I remember correctly, we lost to Memphis the same year we won the SEC Championship (1997.) So, whether or not you are unhappy with our win today, is really of no importance to me. It's understandable to be upset after a loss, but to be upset after a win, no matter who it is against, is just plain fickle.

So, in Florida's case, the coach gets 'props' for making it to Atlanta. Yet, in Fulmer's case, he must win there for your approval.

If you are going to set a standard, at least set it across the board, VolNavy.

to get back to the point of this post only team we would match up against is notre dame. USC would kill us, please people. I don't think the Pac10 is as great as everyone wants it to be, but Southern Cal would thrash us. Mich and Tosu would laugh us off the field in the first quarter.

I agree with the assessment concerning UM and Tosu, however, I doubt that USC would thrash us if we had Harrell, Inky, and Fellows.

If Antwan Stewart never had to step on the field, our secondary would be a lot better.

if a frog had wings......
injuries don't matter. tennessee's secondary would still be bad, our run D would still be awful, and don't even think about being fooled by today's running game. no way we beat USC. it'd be a close game until they'd put 30 on us in the fourth and wind up blowing us out

I believe we can only go on the health factor, not the bolting for the draft factor. Else, we would have to give USC Bush and White...

Wasn't disputing, just pondering what might have been had all the cards worked in our favor. Health, NFL, etc.

The premise of this thread was an 'if' question. If you don't want to hypothesize about what might have been, then don't. I could care less. However, I was answering the posed question.

That's right Fulmer needs to win one, the point of my last post was to make it and win it every once in a while, last time we were SEC champs, was '98, the "glorious" year. ........That's right we lost to Memphis, that happens man, Cincy almost beat OSU, what is your point there..........but I do believe UT should get to Atlanta, and win it, been a long time. I definitely think being one win away from a National champ appearance and then blowing to an LSU team that you had beaten earlier in the year, who had a back up qb playing is embarrassing. Wins are nice......but when it is against teams like UK.....Air Force, Marshall first half..............that's pretty embarrassing. You've got to be kidding yourself..........so what bowl are you looking for? Think we'll get shut out again?

No way we beat USC? They beat Cal 23-9, we beat them 35-18. USC also lost to an unranked Oregon State. I'm not saying that we definitely would beat them, but to say that there's no way we win? I don't think so.

Notre Dame...Not a chance. Our D is still shaky, and the tandem of Quinn and Samardja is too good, and our Secondary is Horrendous....and for therealUT, Weiss is smarter, and a better coach than Fulmer.

Well yeah, he ctually beat the crap out of the Service Academies.........Fulmer, so good. I can't believe you guys are even discussing this UT Team playing ANY of the Top 5!

Thanks for being up the question of intelligence. Weiss has been at ND for almost two years. He could very well be a better coach than Fulmer. However, he could also wash out over the next three years. Also, since ND is an independent, then what is your measurement for Weiss? BSC bowl games and National Championships?

Also, our secondary is awful because we have guys on the field who shouldn't be on the field and guys playing out of position (see Stewart, Heffney, and Morley.) With Inky and Fellows in the mix, we would not have that problem.

if you're going to make an argument about the strength of Weiss as a coach, how can you, with all seriousness, bring up the service academies... c'mon now

Considering that Florida is #4, and we lost to them by 1...

Also since all of this is all hypothetical, then by the numbers USC would destroy us by like hundred points, since they beat Ark 50-14......right? Come On

because we all know wins over like opponents is the way to tell how to beat a team. USC's offense would score at will on our D. UT's at offense would score @ will on USC, until we would start having those little hiccups that we get every single game and USC would take over.

Negative. You apparently do not know the meaning of the word hypothetical.
