Country music thread

No, Oak Ridge šŸ¤£. It's a lot harder to schedule a Nashville trip from Telford than from there. Of course I'm closer to Raleigh which plays in my favor and 65 minutes from my house to checking into my hotel and ordering a beer at the Orange Peel is a good trade off.
Makes way more sense now šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚

I can enjoy garbage food. Even garbage movies on occasion. Just not garbage music. I need music that move me and gives me emotion. I'm all for Walker Hayes and Fl/Ga Line, etc moving y'all. It doesn't move me. Not even slightly. And regardless of talent, I can call it garbage if that's what I think it is. The theory that talent matters is silly. Fail Guy silly.
Good grief. Lol.

Okay. What is your favorite Turnpike Troubadours song and why does it move you?

I saw Chris Young on Long Island in the early spring. In between songs a lady yelled a song name at him from the crowd.
CY said ā€œwhat?ā€
She yelled it again
CY said ā€œthatā€™s a song thatā€™s from before my first album, nobody here knows that songā€¦..how do you know that song?ā€
She yelled ā€œplease!!ā€
So CY walked a chair over to that side of the stage and started playing. He sang the first verse to her including the chorus.
He then said ā€œare we good?ā€
She yelled ā€œI love youā€
CY said ā€œ I love you too, is it ok if I go back to the play list?ā€

thatā€™s a Tennessee guy.

Not a bad tune at all, not my jam.

I think the years of the machine playing by their own rules makes me dislike radio country as a whole. Hell, these are the people who wanted Ragweed to wear cowboy hats, and threw Chris Knight and Ray Scott (obviously 2 different levels of songwriter) to the side when they wanted to do their own stuff.

I have a good friend who toured the west during the Salad Days when I lived out there, with PG, Cory Morrow, Boland, and Ragweed. The Nashville labels wanted them all for their fans, assuming there would be a carryover. And their wasn't.

Ask Bill if he's not to busy rocking to Wave on Wave.

I donā€™t waste a lot of time worrying about who did what to who and where each person is played. I have not listened to the radio in years. My play list are formed from who Iā€™ve seen live. I spend a lot of time seeing live music.

The guys I look forward too the most I only get to see once every 2-3 years because they donā€™t come around here much and they are without a doubt the best live show youā€™re going to see.
Iā€™d need to start a Bluegrass thread to discuss them but that would be me just talking to myself.

And that's the thing, man. Music.is left to the listener. Me and Bill are grumpy bastards who prefer our country music differently than most. Dont know if its zodiac signs or randomness but I just don't do toe tapping generic Lowes soundtrack stuff. A lot of people do, which is probably why I'm at the Grey Eagle on Thursdays instead of the Orange Peel

Iā€™m just not a fan of the personal level of attack on someone and their music if it doesnā€™t fit a personā€™s preference. Thatā€™s where you and Bill differ. You like what you like and can discuss why without the need to trash someone who may like other things.
Itā€™s easier for me to call out people for this I guess because I will literally listen to everything. I had tickets to Rage against the machine Sunday but didnā€™t go because the red women wasnā€™t feeling well and you know who I saw Friday.

Anyway. Thereā€™s no point in beating that horse any further.
