Crime Ridden Memphis

Except we shouldn't live in a society where even a minute level of resistance is an instant bypass of the judicial system.

Agreed, and it would be nice to have an answer for that. I guess as human beings we've learned from birth to try and argue our way out of trouble ... we all did it as kids with our parents. Cops should expect some of that, and roll with it. If somebody gets physically abusive or tries to flee, that's a problem; but it sure doesn't justify more than the minimum physical restraint to end it. If it's just words, then cops have to rise above it - comes with the job.

What do YOU do on Friday nights?

It depends, summer I'm usually on the lake. Winter out to eat with the wife, maybe a bar or friend stop or back to the house to watch a movie. It's not unusual to find me on the back deck or in the garage having a drink watching some sport while fiddling around. I damn sure not watching political newstainment shows.

I will be watching the news tonight. I am sure CNN has cameras set up nationwide for the chaos.

America on edge: Protests are planned nationwide over Tyre Nichols bodycam video - as Georgia Gov. Kemp activates 1,000 National Guard troops, district cancels all after-school activities and security is ramped up at Capitol Hill

  • Governor Brian Kemp, 59, has declared a state of emergency until Tuesday, February 9, ahead of the Tyre Nichols bodycam footage being released
  • Atlanta was embroiled in an anti-cop protest over the weekend, which saw protesters shooting off fireworks and lighting a police vehicle on fire
  • Ahead of Nichols' footage, Georgia declared an emergency and brought in the National Guard as it 'closely monitors the events in Memphis'
Government officials are calling for calm ahead of the planned nationwide protests over the Tyre Nichols bodycam footage, which will be released tonight, as the Georgia governor activated 1,000 National Guard troops and Capitol Hill amped up security.

Many cities, including Memphis and New York City, are gearing up to protest after the gruesome footage, which has been described as worse than Rodney King, on the Memphis Police Department's YouTube page at 7pm. Police are releasing the footage later a night to allow people to get home beforehand.

Can’t wait to watch our special needs population running out of stores with big screens, liquor, and big smiles on their faces.

It's almost like the police and politicians are encouraging riots by talking about them and saying to prepare for them. What good will a riot do other than probably destroy another Target or two, a CVS and a liquor store. There are a lot of people across the country that are looking for tonight to be a free shopping trip.

The poor and elderly, and decent people that need those amenities like food and drugs...That is who I will feel sorry for.

Businesses that have to think twice to reopen. They are the victims, all in the name of some socitetal discourse by thugs and criminals. And probably brought in out of state.

One rock..and party on.

I don't think anything happens honestly. The cops already fired and charged for what they did. Not sure what their is to protest
