Shelby County Judge Defends New Bail System, although questions remain

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) - Out on bond and accused of committing more crimes.

Critics of the new bail reform plan say it allows violent criminals back out on the street to get into more trouble. But the judge who supervises the judicial commissioners who set bail at 201 Poplar said that’s simply not true.

Shelby County General Sessions Criminal Court Judge Bill Anderson said everyone arrested has the right to bail except those charged with first-degree murder where it appears the proof is strong, and the suspect may be subjected to capital punishment. That’s the only exception.

For example, 19-year-old Chase Harris, the accused serial car thief charged in the shootout at Huey’s, was arrested and released on bond four times before the Shelby County District Attorney’s Office filed a motion to revoke his bond.

Moment Swarm Of 40 Looters Ransacks Memphis Gas Stations - with one of the Goons even seen ripping an illuminated SIGN from its base

Over three dozen suspects vandalized and shoplifted from two Tennessee gas stations, stealing over $17,000 worth of merchandise and ravaged the inside of the stores, in a slew of Saturday night thefts.

Police said the mob hit up an Exxon station and a Fill-N-Go gas station in Memphis Saturday night.

Video from WREG shows the group wreaking havoc inside the store, and at one point, a thief is seen ripping an illuminated sign from its base at the door.

The robbers are seen knocking over stands and carrying out boxes of goods, many of them slipping as they exit through the door.

Just after after 10 p.m. a mob of 30-40 suspects entered the Exxon at 3483 Airways Boulevard and stole $2,000 worth of merchandise, according to police.

The retail thefts weren't the only havoc in Memphis over the weekend, as other high-profile robberies were reported. ABC 24 reported one of Saturday night's burglaries included a FedEx tractor-trailer being broken into with packages stolen from it.

Grizzlies made such a huge mistake moving there. They would be wise to move to Nashville. They will never matter in the grand scheme of things.

It’s already started at the brand new Tanger outlet over by Hickory Hollow
2 weeks after Grand Opening. Should've never been put in Antioch of all places. Nashville quit caring about Antioch years ago. Poor guy on one of my jobsites got rear ended 2 days ago at a red light on Bell Road. Bitch that hit him, jumped out and screamed that she was f@cked up and didn't have a license or insurance and took off running. Nashville gets worse by the day.
