They are up in arms over this for multiple reasons. One is a valid complaint, one is not.

You can’t stop poor black kids for “inappropriate clothing” - that’s just a recipe for disaster.

But they’re also bitching up a storm about not being able to release or return (to a residence) poor black kids that have actually done something.

'Rough-draft' of MPD program targeted minors for clothing, selling food

This is what they don’t like -

In bold, highlighted words, the presentation says: "Officers will not transport juvenile offenders to a residence."

Officers are going to call Shelby County Juvenile Court.
SCJC is going to respond - “No, we don’t want them”
Officers are then going to call Parent/Guardian.

IF the parent/guardian does not come pick up the juvenile - DCS will be called.

When DCS says they don’t want the juvenile - instead of releasing said juvenile,
"Supervisors will then petition the court to bound the juvenile over to the State of Tennessee and pursue charging the parents for child abandonment."

Just dumb.

Just dumb.
It’s crazy.
They just want these kids simply dropped back off at “home”.

And they wonder why we have teens shutting down major roadways - doing donuts while they pop rounds hanging out the windows.

That sh!t ^ is awful on its own.

But it’s mostly juveniles doing all of the car jackings, armed robberies, and assaults too.

Murder rates jump another 10% in the biggest US cities since 2021: Memphis, New Orleans, Richmond, and other Dem-led cities are nation's homicide hotspots, study shows

Memphis, New Orleans, and Richmond rank as America's homicide hotspots, with scholars linking their rising murder rates to soft-on-crime Democratic leadership and low police morale.

A study by WalletHub found that murder rates jumped by a tenth in the country's biggest cities between the first quarter of 2001 and the same period this year — and they're still heading up.

It was released as William Shaw Jr, 67, was arrested and charged with second-degree murder over the shooting of his uncle in South Memphis this week — the latest in a string of killings in Tennessee's second-biggest city.

They attributed this to more people buying guns, bail reform efforts, and police steering clear of the mostly-black inner-city communities where gang-related killings are concentrated in the wake of Black Lives Matter protests.

'As a response to the social unrest, some officers have embraced de-policing, which is the idea of not engaging in proactive policing practices in order to avoid increased scrutiny and censure.'

When the cops melt away, 'violence proliferates,' Okeem added.

The suspect accused of shooting at an off-duty police officer outside the East Memphis Huey’s after being caught breaking into a car is back in jail just 24 hours after he was released on bond. Suspect in Huey’s shootout, multiple car break-ins back in jail

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) - The suspect accused of shooting at an off-duty police officer outside the East Memphis Huey’s after being caught breaking into a car is back in jail just 24 hours after he was released on bond.

Chase Harris, 19, is charged with a new count of vehicle theft.

According to the affidavit, Harris is accused of stealing a 2016 Infiniti Q50 from the parking lot of Tanoor Grill on Germantown Parkway on April 2.

Police say the next day, that same Infiniti is seen on surveillance video pulling up in the Urban Outfitters parking lot on South Cooper Street, and the driver is seen breaking into a car and stealing electronics.

Harris was already charged in that break-in, along with two others: one that also took place April 3 at the Waffle Cream on South Cooper Street, and the one that took place at the Huey’s on April 30.

FBI Searches Memphis home Linked to Ford Family Members

MEMPHIS, Tenn.— The FBI executed a search warrant Thursday at the house of County Commissioner Edmund Ford Jr., which is owned by his father, Memphis City Council member Edmund Ford Sr.

FBI spokesperson Joel Siskovic confirmed the bureau had served a search warrant at 917 Summer Shade Lane at 6 a.m. Thursday. The home is in Whitehaven, near Graceland.

Shelby County Lee Harris said in a statement that the warrant was issued to “Commissioner Ford” — Edmund Ford Jr.

But back in 2021, Ford Jr. was investigated for allegations of an ethics violation involving a $450,000 county grant that was approved for local nonprofit Memphis Junior Achievement. Ford’s business sold computers to the group resulting in a $45,000 profit, but Ford allegedly did not properly disclose his dealings with the nonprofit before the vote.
