Critical race theory and elections

So educate myself by reviewing information from a hyperpartisan private college that has a vested interest in promoting a specific interpretation. Hrm.

I think I'll stick to the universally academically accepted, decades old definition that doesn't have all of this new political baggage added to it.

Lulz. And typical universities are not.

At least two teachers in Rhode Island who support the teachings of critical race theory did not receive the outcome they expected after they offered bonus points to students who chose to offer testimonies on an anti-critical race theory state House bill.

According to documents gathered by Parents Defending Education (PDE), two teachers in Barrington, Rhode Island, offered five extra points to each student for their next exam if they testify by word of mouth or offer a written statement on the legislation.

Actually, no. There are outliers like exist in any large group, but by and large an overwhelming majority of America's public universities work diligently to fulfill their academic and research missions.

I'm sorry that you can't see that, and that Newsertainment has continually misrepresented the reality of what really happens at most colleges and universities.

I figured you would say something like this. CRT is supporting and actively promoting racism. Academically accepted with no political baggage? Please tell me you are joking. CRT is being pushed hard by liberal ideology. But yeah, you keep on pretending like you are accepting a pure definition that is free of political agenda.

On his Thursday broadcast, CNN anchor Don Lemon said that Republicans were “trying to whitewash racism” by blocking school kids from being taught about the history of racism.

Jackson Lee: ‘The Real Question on This Critical Race Theory Is Why We’re So Afraid of Race’
Jackson Lee responded to a question on the debate over CRT in schools by saying, “You know what we should be teaching is truth. We held people in bondage, we had a brutal history, meaning America. There were masters and slaves. The Constitution did not grant us citizenship or even status as one human being. But we survived and we had the Harriet Tubmans of the world, the Sojourner Truths of the world, we had the Frederick Douglasses of the world. And so, that is the beauty of America. We were resilient. We should tell that story. Brutality comes with survival and success, and then we need to tell the story that the day that we were freed shows America’s compassion and love for freedom. The day of the Emancipation Proclamation and in 1863, the President, Abraham Lincoln, who did not survive this period, indicated that a nation divided against itself cannot stand. And so, Juneteenth is a reckoning that we wanted to survive as a nation and we freed the slaves. That’s a beautiful story, even in the backdrop of the brutality.”

There are multiple critical _________ theories. Critical theories are supposed to study and report on the intersection of the primary studied subject with law, social structures, history, etc to determine if there are patterns and, if so, how those patterns form and what they mean.

Sociological study is no different than a gun. There's a small subset of people who are using the lens of intersectionality on race and reporting their findings. Your issue, then, is with those people and not the construct they use. Just like our belief is that guns aren't the problem, but the people who use them incorrectly are.

So is it really the existence of the constructed model that upsets you, or that you don't agree with the findings? There are important implications attached to that question as well.

London University to Let Non-White Students Defer Essays for ‘Racial Trauma’ Without Evidence

Goldsmiths, University of London has bowed to pressure from student activists and agreed to let “Black & PoC [People of Colour]” students defer essays on grounds of “racial trauma”, based purely on “self-certification”.

“The Uni has agreed to our Sabbs’ [sabbatical officers‘] proposal to include ‘racial trauma’ as a reason to defer essays for Black & PoC students through self-certification, not an evidence based approach,” crowed the Goldsmiths Student’ Union on social media.

The construct that CRT is built on is what bothers me. There are black, brown and white people. Neither one has any kind of inherent advantages or disadvantages solely based on the color of their skin. Society, government or anything else is not setup to systematically hold anyone back.

I know you may not like this but CRT has its roots in Marxism. Ignore it if you want but that’s fact. It’s sad that so many people cannot see the tenants of Marxism permeating the fabric of our society. But that’s what happens when people don’t understand history and only want to push a certain agenda.

Wife just got home with dinner, so my answer right now is very short: Oh hell no. And the rules require students to be put in environments that are proven to cause anxiety and discomfort above and beyond the tests themselves; a situation that is heavily exacerbated for those with cognitive differences, challenges, or limitations.

I am a strong believer in the Testing Opt-Out movement.
My son will never be able to live on his own and he is forced to take that exam. For his sake it really doesn’t matter as he doesn’t know anything different is going on. I just don’t understand the why but I’m betting it has to do with money.

I don’t know what school these people went to but all that is taught and has been for decades.

And you'd be exactly right. The number of state legislators with financial ties to testing companies and charter school operators would not surprise you.

Nope. If that were true then why this push now? What’s being pushed now goes beyond simply teaching history.

That's the illusion that the racist right wing Trumpsters are promoting. There really is no such thing as critical race theory in the mainstream. It's classic strawman tactics and labels.

Then you have no problem dropping it and just teaching history

This BS makes Charles Barkley look like a genius.(can’t believe I just typed that)
