1 point loss, you are right. Either way, it changes the outcome.Ummm....why? In that case, that would have given tOSU 4 fewer point and they won by three, so that would be a one point loss, not 4, right? Also, I didn't mean to say the drive meant nothing..that was huge. Michigan wasn't doing much to stop tOSU when those fumbles happened. Each of those drives could have very well resulted in points considering what was going on in the game at the time.
I'm not saying that Michigan was horrible. The game would not have been a blowout. But, I think that tOSU seemed to outplay Michigan by more like 7 or 10, not 3.
It is not about giving other teams a shot. It is about finding the two best teams in the country and matching them up. The best three teams are Tosu and then UM and USC are about tied for #2.Not sure if they are or not. I am sure OSU is #1, and want to see another top notch team get a shot at them.

I think the only way you have a shot is win out, and hope ND beats USC.An idle Michigan might drop down and move you guys up to two, especially if you catch on fire.I think Arky has a fair chance as well.I'd say you have a less than 50% chance at playing for the N/C even with winning out.I am not bothered by the fact that Florida almost surely has no shot, even if they win out. I don't think the Gators have played well enough offensively over the last 4-5 games (not counting West Carolina, naturally) to merit consideration.
But, I have to say that as entertaining a game as OSU-Michigan was, I was underwhelmed by the defenses. One wonders if those teams wouldn't have 2-3 losses each if they played in a conference where defense was prized, i.e. SEC.
What about the loss yesterday? Are we just supposed to change the way that the polls have always worked historically (when you lose a game late in the season, you drop below teams with the same number of losses that lost their games much earlier in the season) because ESPN has decided to sell the idea of a Ohio State/Michigan rematch this year?
That game wasn't even as close as the final score indicated. Michigan scored with a few seconds left to pull within 3 points.
Well, for that 1,000% agreement, apparently you didn't watch the ABC broadcast when all 3 of the commentators stated over and over that the loser of the game doesn't deserve to play in the national championship.I agree 1000% that's the way it has always been !!If ESPN hadn't hyped it so much they would have fell four or five spots .
Absolutely agreed and I feel the same about you. A majority of people here have so many personal biases against other teams and conferences, that they can't give fair opinions. It's okay for people to do that if they are clear that they are just Vol fans. It's when people try to pass their opinions off as a college football fan when I can READ the bias clear as day. I know sometimes I come off as a pompous arse, but I like in depth, insightful discussion, and sometimes people just don't give fair analysis.
I'm ranting andnnnnnnnnnnd I'm done.
A playoff? How many teams exactly? Right now there are 2 undefeated teams, 9 one loss teams, and 11 two loss teams. So, you are going to actually resolve controversy with a playoff??? I doubt it. A playoff system will still rely on subjective selection of teams, seeds, and pairings.
