Cuonzo receives raise

It's funny, I haven't seen most of these posters all summer but whenever a topic about Martin's overall job, the negavols start hatin'. Like if your going to be posting here, post all year, not when you get a chance to demoralize Martin. JMO

I've said it before, I'll say it again... I don't think he represented our university well at the end of last season. His piss poor attitude clearly rubbed off on the rest of the team when we lost to MERCER in the NIT. I cant stand someone with a victim mentality, he has it, and its contagious. The offseason hasn't been much better with our starting PG getting the boot.

So why do we reward mediocrity? Does anyone on this board get a raise from their boss when their work is just mediocre (at best)? I don't think so. So why reward this guy with an additional 50K a year. Maybe a paltry raise in the coaching realm, but for most people, that would double their yearly salary. He does not deserve it until he shows us real improvement which he has yet to do.

I would love for him to prove me wrong, and I'll be here to post sporadically like I normally do rain or shine....

When we get to the point in a season, when the worst case scenario is still a good result, I will be satisfied. Clearly we have never been to that point.

Plain and simple, you'll never be satisfied unless you have something to gripe about. You don't want Martin to succeed because it will mean admitting you were wrong, and it gives you no jusification to continue your lynch-mob crusade to convince those of us with even the smallest glimmer of hope that he can succeed, that we are all just blind mice following the Pied Piper.

If you don't like the direction we're heading, that's fine. But if you can't give him credit when he succeeds (like those 8-10 game stretches), then it really disqualifies your opinion of anything else, because, like I said, your agenda is obviously predicated on Martin failing.

THE ONLY THING THAT MATTERS IS THE BOTTOM LINE! Why would I be happy that my investor won me momentary gains when he ended up losing all of my money?

You're not a real basketball fan if you haven't seen any of Martin's achievements. Either that or blind.

How would you feel if you got the BOOT by the NCAA two years in a row? This last year, we should've gotten in the NCAA tournament and when we saw we got in NIT the entire team was disappointed, not just Martin. So do you think Calpari is mediocre because he lost the first round of the NIT having the talent he has?

:lolabove:Hahahaha! Post like this make me laugh. Not a real basketball fan! That's great! Refresh my memory, how many tourney appearances has he had as a HC? (Tourney "snubs" don't count).

You can't compare his raise (which is the equivalent to a cost of living raise) in the "coaching realm", and in the same sentence, rant about how it would double your salary. That's an apples and oranges comparison, and you did it within the confines of one sentence.

That's a loser mentality you got there.... Once Martin starts recruiting like Calipari, or makes tournaments on a regular basis like Calipari, then we can start making those comparisons. Until then, they are light years apart.

I was comparing it in relative terms that most people can relate to, but thanks for trying.

Ahhh there's the catch I knew there had to be one...what is it, unless Martin makes the final four he has failed in your opinion?

You're a joke.

Dude, if this guy loses in the first round of the NCAAs we are in trouble! Based on the way he is recruiting, he will never have a team even close to this talented again.

I'd suggest diversifying your portfolio.

You can attempt to dance around it all you want. You sound stupid when you expect people to celebrate the fact that the team played well for a stretch but not overall.

This gets my most moronic post of the year vote. Please keep up the good work. :good!:

No no no, you can't do that now. You made the statement

The DEFENDING NATIONAL CHAMPIONS lost their first game to Robert Morris, so by comparison, Calapari also had a "piss poor attitude". Calapari has victim mentality and its contagious. Their offseason for KY hasn't been much better with losing Kyle Wiltjer. Isn't that right?

For future references: We replaced Trae Golden.

Hey dude! Assuming he makes it, it's his first trip to the NCAA tournament. The fact you're apparently expecting a final four run in his first NCAA appearance is beyond absurd.

As for the recruiting, he appears headed for a top 20 class this year, so apparently his recruiting is improving.

I'm not suggesting you celebrate it. I'm suggesting you give credit where credit is due and stop showing up only to whine when you see an opportunity.

I've already given my thoughts on that though. You will never be satisfied because you find more joy in being miserable and complaining. CCM could lead this team to an undefeated season and win the NC, and you'd complain that they didn't beat teams by enough points.

I didn't say anything about the final four. Their are actually 3 different rounds between the 1st round and the final four where he could potentially lose. Hopefully he can make the 2nd weekend. If not it's goodbye time.

Look, I'm not a Kentucky fan so I don't really follow Calipari's reactions very closely. I do, however, follow Martins reactions, post game articles, pressers, etc. he acted like he was a victim and he didn't get something he deserved. They played like a team that didn't want to win in the SEC tourney and after the NCAA tourney "snub" he went on to say the NIT doesn't matter. That is a terrible attitude. Anytime he shows up on a court to coach a team wearing my alma maters colors, it matters. That's why he gets paid, to win. If UT basketball is participating in a cornhole tournament against Austin Peay for charity, I expect them to win. Comparing Martin to a proven winner like Calipari is just silly. I'm not a person who says "well, look at what this team did...." I don't care. I only care about my team, my coach, my university. I don't think he has done a good enough job to warrant any type of raise. I don't see how anyone could defend that he does other than the typical, "well, it's just a normal thing in the coaching world."

The overall job is not satisfactory, therefore, there is NO credit due.
