Cuonzo releases Landry

Wow volbeast, c'mon dude.

Here's another...

Give it up man, Pearl pulled a d!ck move and he's A ok in your book. Martin does this with Landry and he's lost all your respect.

I don't agree with that and pearl deserves to be blasted, no recruit deserves to be treated that way........I can semi understand it bc he had just gotten hired and running around trying to get everything together can be overwhelming but if the Daniel West stuff is true.....there is no excuse at all for doing that.

I find that worse than anything that led to his dismissal from tennessee

You don't allow it to go so long as Dotson has scheduled classes, packed his bags, and was 24 hours away from attending his first class..no excuse for that.

I agree with that......and if he did it exactly that way or its somewhere in between his version and the dotsons version.......he needs to be blasted

After reading this article -- why was a signed commit visiting New Mexico St BEFORE getting his LOI release ?

Shhhh, the righteous minority wants to errantly beat their chest some more.

You guys crying over Landry are a bunch of nancies who probably believe in a game of musical chairs where every kid gets a chair.

Landry is no longer a Vol because Martin found a better player that makes the team better. Do you same posters b*tching and whining about Landry being release cry when someone else gets picked for a job, promotion, etc? if so, the last several pages of posts make sense.

There are winners and losers and no one is entitled to anything. Coach Martin's job is to field the best team. And if he doesn't, he loses his job. Stop with all of the whining and let the man do what he is paid to do.

If martin is worried about his job.....quit recruiting so many marginal players.....the fact that he recruited.....signed.....and held onto such a marginal player for so long is troublesome. ....the way this was handled is not part of the job

Martin didn't know he would become an awful player either?

I wish he would start doing it

Trying to compare what Saban does or any other coach who WINS vs what CCM did is just not the same. When your winning and playing for championships, you can get away with a lot more. Especially when it comes to recruiting. "When Butch Jones does it", is a pathetic argument because he has not done it. CBJ could have taken 25 in the last class and he took 20 so in the event he wanted to add a kid later he could do it. He did it the right way, and CCM did not. I always want UT to win at everything. This is one case where I hope CCM learns a valuable lesson when other HS coaches and recruits parents give him hell for cutting a kid loose like he did.

That's where you're wrong. He wasn't an awfule player his junior year at Bob Jones HS. He had played well enough to earn offers from Vanderbilt and Alabama.
I still think his failure at HP is on Fulford.
Why bring the kid in if he was going to use him as a water boy.

Been a year and half, then you are told to get lost, i dont care how good or bad you are that is not right.:rtfm:

You can't have it both ways. You can't complain about making the team better to win championships and then complain about having to make a move to improve it. I really feel badly for Landry, but he didn't do anything this past year that would make UT want to keep him. CCM has to improve the team. He did so. Landry has to prove he is worthy through his performance. He didn't.

Then CCM should have made the decision to cut him loose MONTHS and MONTHS ago. It's the waiting till now to do it that has people in an uproar. Landry was kept on the string IN CASE CCM could not land a better player. It's wrong no matter how you try to sugarcoat it.

CCM had rather face the music for legally cutting an under performer loose than having to answer for not winning.

Exactly. If next march the team is ranked 15th and is on their way to the sweet 16 how many are still gonna be criticizing him about the Landry situation?

Maybe I missed it where Landry was an under performer as a VOL. Oh that's right, he was never given the chance. If Landry was not up to par 3-4 months ago then CCM should have made a move then. Waiting till AFTER the LOI was signed and the kid was getting ready to begin his career as a VOL is just low down and dirty.

The problem started when Thompson decommitted from Vanderbilt. Like a kid in a candy store we saw a bigger piece of chocolate and wanted it more than the one we had. We had no idea we would get Thompson he just sort of fell in our laps. Then what to do well McRae and Stokes both came back which is great. Then Yemi gets in trouble and decides to transfer and we decide to sign another post player still one over the limit. So coaches put themselves in a position where they had to get rid of a player. Landry was the guy because we had Thompson as number two point guard now. It might have been better not to sign the extra post player and worked instead on bulking up Reese and freshman AJ to back up Maymon and Stokes. At least there would be no controversy about what has happened.

Probably noone bc it will be a yr for now and this won't be a topic of discussion....you can ask me and I will still tell u that its a BS move

I suggested this earlier without much discussion but the NCAA must do something to protect these kids once they sign an NLI. The kid is locked in and so should the school for 1 full year. If the school doesn't honor the contract then at least one and IMO 2 scholarships should be lost the following year.
