Do what?
Very fortunate to come back and win that game last night. First time all year they came behind from more than 2 runs down. If he had not taken Holmberg out early enough it would have been over. Stupid move to bring him up. Guy can't break a window pane with his fast ball and no other real out pitch. They have known that since they acquired him. Should have done nothing but use the existing underworked pen out of that 13 pitcher staff - which was proved by how they shut them down after he pulled Holmberg. Thank goodness Bruce is starting to hit. Add him to the new big three - Billy, Todd, and Devin - and some occasional help from BP; should give them some offense for the balance of the season.
For the worst team in sports, the Cubs talk a lot
putting a scrub triple a pitcher on the mound with a above 5 era. lucky again that billy was able to bail us out. i just don't get price, if you didn't want to start one of your 5 on 4 days rest why did they pitch lecure the night before. for christ sakes he could have given us atleast five innings.
Brew crew coming back to the pack as expected, but idk if there will be a team healthy enough to pass them. Cards can't score, and the reds are falling left and right. Cinci has the best and most healthy arms tho.
its a shame the reds need one good right handed hitter to really give us a good chance and the crappy management won't go get it.
I keep hoping there are legs to the David Price for Votto swap rumor going around, but nothing's happened. That would free Walt's hands to make some deals and move a starter like Bailey, Simon, or Leake with some filler for at least one real bat. Still carrying 13 pitchers - insane. 3 of the 12 regular players are farm call-ups, as are two of the best relievers. That leaves only 5 regular starting position players and 4 subs/bench guys essentially playing every day. Half of that group is hitting .250 or less. Bruce has become a strike out machine. I would be fine with him being part of a trade if they got something of value in return.
What has happened to the fielding on this team? ??
It's one thing to have all your bats missing but no one can field routine balls anymore.
Heisey is a waste of uniform.
I wanted it to work well with Price. But a guy in Cincy that follows it pretty close told me last night that Jay Bell is making out the line-up card. Bench coaches do that action, but the manager makes the final call. Apparently not with our guys. They talk about who they want on the field each day, but Jay usually makes the decision because Price had limited experience with the position player side. If that is the case Price has no hope at all. How could you lay your future as a manager in the hands of a bench coach? Stupid. But it explains what has happened with the changing, stupid line up cards each game. Ludwick hitting a quarter with zip HRs and RBIs of late hitting clean up. What? Add in Price wanting to go with 13 pitchers for an extended period and Walt snoozing through another trading deadline. They keep talking Marlon Byrd from the Phillies for LF - then nothing happens and they keep losing everything they gained. Eff it.
have to agree price should be fired and the fire sale should begin. need to bring in a good GM to pick the next manager and jock should retire. the game has well passed him by.
Notice the all knowing, Sabermetric, savants of baseball trolls have sauntered off to greener pastures. Imagine that.
