These line-ups are becoming hilarious! Tonight they sit Pena, presumably because he will catch Cueto tomorrow. You would think they would continue to play him at first since he is the most consistent hitter with 2 of their 3 hits last night. Nah. Instead I give you Roger Bernadina - he of the .146 average and 7 hits on the season to play first base for possibly the first time in his career! You cannot make this stuff up. Add in they are playing Santiago, he of the .194 average and 6 hits on the season instead of Cozart - who turned it around offensively during May.
Meanwhile Donald Lutz continues to sit the bench after they brought him up to replace Soto. He starts one game and gets two hits and never plays again. Yet, get this, he plays first base as well as LF and hits left handed while they go against Arroyo, a right hander. They would rather play Bernadino at first. LOL!!!!
They carry 12 pitchers and have no offense. There will be no stunning changes this season other than only winning 60-70 games if this trend continues. They had a really good young defensive catcher with a bright future in Tucker Barnhart up, and they sent him back down. If they keep him, they can let Pena play first base 100% of the time until/if Votto returns. Cueto will just need to go back to Meso for his catcher. Try Lutz in LF along with Ludwick. Heisey and Schu fill out the OF bench guys with Santiago for the IF. Bernadino goes back to Louisville.
Trade Meso... Too productive
champy, I am worried about you. Can't take this mess of a team seriously.
They are basically playing .500 ball without Votto and sub .500 with Votto. So if you take the $20 M and buy two good players - just how is it that you lose in that deal? Not that it really matters - they can't move him without subsidizing the deal anyway. Even DB told reporters the other day they basically have nothing much ready to bring up from the farm that can hit. Which is what the issue has been all season, that and it being Karaoke Night for managers when Price is making his decisions at times.
No hits past the 4th yesterday. No hits past the third today. At home. Yesterday was against a mediocre pitcher. After over a third of the season gone. Ain't happenin'. Maybe the Sabermetrics guys' hero will change all that when he comes back. Playoffs here we come. lol.
haha, hope the ss they drafted from stanford is ready to play right away.lol
I could honestly see Votto being the best player in the NL. And Chapman closing, the Reds could be one of the top teams in the league for the next 5 years
Don't you love it when a Braves troll makes idiotic posts on a Reds thread? How many of them would trade Freeman for Votto straight up? lol.
How does a guy that supposedly only had a meniscus tear that would take 60 days to heal in 2012 end up with the quad atrophying above the same knee two years later? After which the guy totally changes his swing and approach to counterpuncher seeking walks and being solely focused on OBP. Somebody knows the truth in the group of Bob/Walt, the docs, and Joey. This whole thing smells to me. That contract without the pre-injury run production kills the future of this club. Any rational baseball fan would know that is true no matter the club. Especially when they are a sub .500 club this far into the season.
Now troll, please explain how they are going to keep Chappy after the Bailey contract with Cueto and Latos rolling up for their share in 2015. Keep in mind they already have the highest payroll in NL Central in one of the smallest markets in MLB. You trade when there is perceived value and leverage to make the deal - not when you have no leverage or perceived value.
was at the game last night. was nice to see the reds play some better. cueto was just awesome with 12k's. hopefully bruce can build on what he did. votto did have a 2 run double, but in his other 3 at bats he didn't get the ball past the pitcher.
