Da Reds thread

How did you like that Price brilliance in the late innings yesterday? lol. He sends Hannahan up to pinch hit with Lutz on the bench. Hannahan of the 0'fer everything and .000 BA. lol. Then the Marlins manager has a brain fart and takes out his SP for the ninth who had totally baffled the Reds all game. Frazier doubles, Mes doubles - 1 run down, no outs, Mes on second. Has Santiago sac bunt Mes to third. Very good decision. Then the dumb kicks in. Let's Schumaker hit. With Lutz and Luddy sitting on the bench. Mistake #1. He tops an infield grounder up the middle and the dumbest third base coach in America doesn't send Mes. That should be a go on contact to anybody but the third baseman play. The SS had to throw out Skip from his knees behind the pitchers mound. So Mes probably scores if he had gone since he has good speed. Mistake #2. So now there are two outs and they pitch around Negron and walk him to get to Cozart. Price lets Cozart bat. Mistake #3. With Luddy and Lutz on the bench. So then we have the Classic Cozart chase the junk outside the zone strike out. Rally over.

Don't know how much the buy out will be, but he has two years left on his contract. It's coming. He doesn't get it. Kind of like Bruce and Cozart at the plate. They don't get it.

I get what your spraying, but what? Mes runs every play out hard, but he's no speedster. And as for the 87th lineup in a previous post, maybe we should hold Bell accountable as well since he makes out the lineups. This whole year has just been beyond sad. Congrats to Mes, Frazier, Billy, a couple starters, and relievers for showing up this year.

Today's first game was absolutely hilarious. Walk off 3 run HR by the Rocks to ex-Red Stubbs. After Chappy walks the first 4 batters with the Reds holding a 9-5 lead. Hoover - again. W/L record of 1-9 and he is still in a Reds uni. LOL! This is the 29th one run loss and Price has now had over 90 different starting line-ups. The most pathetic group of coaches and GM I have seen in years.

The correct managerial call in that circumstance is 'run on contact except to the the third baseman.' Other clubs have run it all season against us successfully. Contact, ball on ground, go. The SS has to regain his balance and throw back across his body and the catcher can no longer block the plate unless he has the ball in hand or the throw leads him there.

Bell reports to his boss - Price. Price should stop it. Today, Mike Scioscia was quoted on ESPN that he has not moved a slumping Josh Hamilton out of the clean-up role because you should only make a line-up move if it will improve production. He felt he had no move he could make that would do that. Our line-up changes regardless of production. Friday, Negron had the best 2 hole production day of any Red all season. Today they moved him to 6th and Cozart to the 2 hole. It worked out OK - but why do it at all? They both hit RH and Negron is a better bunter and hits to right better than Cozart.

Jay Bruce is hitting .220. He continues to bat #2, 3, 4, and 5. Meso has the most power and run production of anybody (games played) and for most of the season he has hit behind Bruce. No pitch arounds for Bruce, the pitchers came right to him. Yet, Bruce has hit #5 nearly all of his 7 seasons and had his most productive season last year in that role. If Bruce is behind Meso there are no holes in the order 1-5 and they can slide Bruce to #6 if Luddy or Pena is hotter. Obviously, Price does not know to think the correct way or chooses to be different. Scioscia has WS rings - he knows. Even Toothpick knew that. Maybe he will someday grow into his role. But it is just another questionable Reds front office decision that is leading the club down the toilet again.

will not be attending another game till price is gone. the boycott is on.

Yep - done on my end. Was planning on a couple more games in September, but that is out now. Losing interest fast.

Bruce was the beneficiary of some bad pitching last night on his big hits. Two fast balls quad high down the middle. Dumb pitch calling on the Cards part. But he helped them with his error. 30 one run losses now. I called it on the Reds board in the 7th inning last night. You can see it coming so easily.

Two starting line-ups in a row the same. That's nearly a record for Price. BTW it has been 99 different starting line-ups. The man is a goober.

Today on the Reds website he said they are slowing Billy down from attempting to steal so often because he is only successful 2 out of 3 times. So they want him to be more selective. Now they have lost 30 one run games. If Billy steals and then a guy gets a hit - that's a run. If Billy doesn't steal how many runs will he score with team RISP near the bottom and having the 25th best hitting team in MLB? So the vast majority of the time Billy gets thrown out, they are not getting enough hitting to knock him in anyway. You cannot make this stuff up. It is really is what Price says and does.

Then he said in the same article that Negron is losing playing time because BP is back and he does not want to insert him into a 4 player platoon in LF. He really said that. He doesn't get it. He doesn't realize you are supposed to play your best and/or hottest players to win games. He thinks it is about keeping a batch of wannabe LF's happy with playing time. While they are losing. He capped it off with bringing Holmberg up for Thursday's game. So essentially what Axelrod did so well, he is penalizing him for doing , just like he has Negron.

This keeps getting worse every single day. Front office is and continues to be the issue.

No need for such a long and elaborative post to explain that we are awful. I get it. It's sad and for the first time in many years, I just don't care to watch baseball. I'm conflicted, because that is what I do (watch the Reds), but I just can't stomach this outcome day in and day out. I don't know who's responsible and it very well could be injuries. I don't care at this point. The lack of care from the front office is disgusting. I saw Price's interview after tonight's loss and he was shaking. I'm not sure what to make of that, but it's about ****ing time someone got upset at their performance.

I wanted to hope that things would improve, but sadly I have lost all hope. I'll continue to hope for the best and continue to love this club, but I just have no more in me with this disappointment every night. It has become flat out embarrassing to where I get laughed at when I'm in rival towns wearing reds gear. I don't like to be ridiculed like that while trying to maintain some inner pride. It's on the same level as being a vol for the last decade. I won't ever stop being a fan, but I may very well lose what small amount of sanity as a fan I have left.

Blue - not pounding on you. More ranting from me. It helps relieve the stress. I am sorry if it came across the wrong way. You are a fellow Reds and Vols fan and have every right to your opinion as I do and I respect everything you say. I can be as wrong as the next guy, just don't believe I am this time around. I totally agree with you - our pride as Reds and Vol fans has been severely damaged. It makes me angry that the Reds ownership/front office is either that incompetent, or is willing to play a loyal fan base to that extent. Same with our Vols. That Cheek and certain BOT members get to keep their roles when they fail so badly at their jobs is mind boggling. Even their top 25 research university quest is failing. They won't admit it. The mission of the school was to be a land-grant university for the students of the state of Tennessee. Hopefully, Butch is the right guy for our Vols.

Who uses Hoover 45 times in a season with a 5.37 ERA and a 1-10 record with blown saves or holds nearly every time out? Bryan Price. Before that it was Ondrusek and Marshall. Who sits Negron when he is hot? Bryan Price. Who bats Bruce in the 2 hole? Bryan Price. It goes on and on. But the root cause is Bob and Walter. They have tanked the organization with their decisions. Huge contracts they could not afford to guys that are now producing what exactly? That they cannot trade because nobody really wants them at the contract cost. I hate where this is heading if something major does not happen to fix it. I love baseball and our Reds.

I liked your post because I totally agree. I was trying so hard to give Price a chance and held onto the hope that this team would come together after injuries, but it just gets worse and worse. There's no leadership anywhere. Same thing we had with the last incompetent manager. I just hate to be negative about every game, but I just don't have anymore positive about this club this year left in me. Tonight was a perfect example. It's just utterly sad and we will continue to get stomped with ATL coming into town. Nothing but love for you and champy because you two follow as closely as I do. I can't even stomach to read the comments on the reds app anymore. Keep todd, mes, Hamilton, and some of the pitchers and blow the rest up. Never thought I would say that or feel that way.

Nothing but love for you as well, blue. champy had this figured out before anybody. At one time I could be more optimistic than anybody alive. Then I married a pessimist. Through the years we each learned from each other. lol.

The business world taught me all about motives and that owners/exec managers can be some of the most incompetent people alive. Something is bad wrong in that area with this club. Of course, we are accustomed to it being the issue with our guys. The farm is messed up and lop sided on the drafts. Yet, there is no other way for a small market club to win consistently except through the development on the farm. I know champy and I both agree with you. Keep the true Reds, and we probably agree on 90+% of them, and dump the rest. Start over, starting with the GM. All of this happened under his watch. Bob needs to hire the best he can find and get out of his way. Which may be a big part of the problem as well.

Keep the faith for a better future. Quick story - like you I have some Reds gear I wore proudly a couple years ago. I would wear to the local Cubs affiliate games here, especially when Pensacola was in town. I would not be caught dead wearing it now. Too much grief from Cubs fans of all people. Cubs fans - wow. That is sad. They know they are catching up to our guys.

pretty easy to see coming bro. walt is a bumbling idiot. sometimes i think he still works for the cards. the votto signing killed us for the next decade.

I agree and said it dozens of times on here and other boards when it first happened. HUGE MISTAKE. The Saber stats guys attacked with a vengeance. The loyalists joined with them. We know the truth and have seen it played out before, which makes it all even more stupid this time around. Small market. 5-6 years max. If they get bigger than that let them go and trade at the high point for value and upside. 3-4 years should be the norm for the proven good player. Then spend all of your efforts on the farm and player development. Hire the very best assistant coaches and managers you can find on all levels. Always, always, always have to be ready to pull the trigger on a trade that will help the club win unless it is a one year or less rental. Jockety along with Price and his merry men need to go.

On the bright side they didn't have another one run loss tonight. They used Pico/Bell's boy (Holmberg). Got the misery out of the way quickly. And Schumaker got to pitch the 9th, retiring the side in order!

Just an amazing offensive display the last few games. lol. Mike Leake had to help create the only run they scored so he could notch a win last night. This club doesn't win 60 games all season without the great pitching they have. Yet 41,000 fans show up last night. Bob and Walt are laughing all the way to the bank at their stupidity.

what a waste of a season, thanks bobby walt and the price is right. what a total joke.:thud:

Mongo nearly gave away the one tonight after they got some runs off the Cubs batting practice pitcher. Latos and Leake are on the waiver wire. Walt will pull them back more than likely - just testing the waters IMO. They now admit the are sellers, a month and a half after they should have been buyers. Effed up mess.

College football season starts tomorrow. :)

Hoover being called up with the added roster spots. Great!!!!!!!!!!

haha the clueless idiots must want to lose more games.lol. i really think this coaching staff is even worse than bob boone's that is saying a lot. oh well its football season anyway. did anybody see the votto interview with jim day, i think it was like 2 or 3 days ago. i hope he never comes back. hard to like a guy like that.
