Da Reds thread

Joey Votto has been one of the five best offensive players in baseball this year. FACT

hey guys, congrats on Great American. That place was awesome. I just went to see the Mets up here in Cincy and that park is very nice. Also very cool that it happened to be a Bark in the Park night, so I got to see a bunch of pups

Decided to watch a real baseball game tonight.

Joey Votto for mayor of Cincy. Obvious choice for MLB MVP. All of MLB has been ringing Walter's phone to do a deal for him. Going to throw Bruce and Gomer into the deal. Poof - half the payroll gone and a certainty that the remaining roster can produce a matching 64 win season in 2016. Bob will be rolling in cash.

Price is coming back because there was no point hiring a real manager with the crap roster they will have. The new GM in 2017 will be able to hire his guy.

Thanks for the congrats. GABP is well done for a small market like Cincy. Food and beverages are first rate and the local scene around the park is fun as well.

It's funny how you ***** an a guy who's earning his contract but never whine about Phillips who hasn't had a league average offensive season in four years.

Maybe because we actually watch the games?

So .294/.328/.395 wasn't league average for 2B? Really? Try again. With 2 more hits in 10 less games than Votto.

He costs less, most years he creates as many or more runs per game played, he plays his position a thousand times better than Votto plays his to go with ESPN highlight reel plays every week, he runs the bases much better, he changes his hitting style to fit what the team needs as requested by whoever his manager is, and he is the fans' favorite player. Votto's stats improve whenever BP hits behind him because he can be Mr. OBP while BP drives them in.

Other than that he's not much. lol.

Oh wait, there is no new GM for any year. Just a continuation of the golden spoon syndrome with one of the owner's boys doing Walter's bidding. Got to keep that last place run going.

Why do you want one of the ten best hitters in baseball traded?

Answered this over and over. IF he is one of the ten best hitters in baseball, which is subjective based on weighting of criteria, does that justify $20+ mill a year for 8 years on a small market club? That will be 16-18% of team payroll each year for one player that is mediocre at D and base running, just good at runs and RBI's, and is great at OBP to go with a large amount of strike outs. I see ZERO teams giving $20+ mill long term contracts to OBP guys that do not knock in 100+ every season with serious power.

This was a 97 win team a few years back that is now 64 wins and next to last in MLB. There is no Johnny because there is no money to sign him. There is no Mike or Alfredo because there was no money to sign them. There will be no money to sign Chappy. The albatross named Bruce will go away after this next season hopefully. BP is done in 2017. BP essentially makes the same as Bruce. Then there's Gomer's idiotic contract. $78 mill tied up in 7 guys that has led a straight downward trend to last place with the worst manager in baseball.

IF this was a big market team and IF you could sign quality players with more money available, Votto's deal would be less of an issue. You could mitigate around having a guy that you were paying superstar money to that was really a step down. But that's not the case and the other organizations have seen what you refuse to see. To this point have not been interested in taking our baggage per The Greater Fool Theory.

we now are the worst managed team in baseball. the great jock just traded chapman for basically bat boys. wasn't going to watch them anyways this year. oh well. what can you do just don't watch or go to games. guess i'll take in a couple of Indians games this year. just goes to show that most people that post in this thread don't know there head from there A--. last place again baby hell yeah.

Chapman to the Dodgers

There is a hang-up in the deal per MLBTradeRumors. He has been referred to MLB as Reyes and Puig were for domestic abuse of his baby momma girlfriend. Back in October she called the police on him for physical abuse and discharging a handgun in the garage of their home. There was no arrest. He denied it all of course. But because of the new protocol MLB has to get involved and clear him or suspend him. Which affects the deal happening.

We get a lot of drive by posters that look at some stats or standings, maybe read a column, or watch a MLB game of the week once or twice a season. They then think they know what's going on. Typical. Suck City in Cincy. With Walter's luck MLB will not clear Chappy and he will be suspended part of the season while killing this trade. lol.

Best to just check in on them occasionally to see how the young guys are doing. Not expecting anything as long as Walter is somewhere in the organization.

looks like bruce and frazier could be out of cincy soon as well. they probably feel like they won the lottery.

lol - wouldn't you?!

Now that Dicky Walter are in control, all is a good night in Cincy. They spend a week in Nashville on the club's dime throwin' 'em back and boot scooting' the nights away - doing absolutely nothing. See you in spring training with the rest of the AAA roster they will be fielding.
