Da Reds thread

Eh it would be interesting to get Realmuto but I'd honestly rather spend money to get a true center fielder. I don't really want to part with our top prospects.

But getting Realmuto won’t do that. I mean you go from 70 wins to 75.

Meet you back here in October. If the FO does nothing else you just said they will be a 70 win team. Bet you have the Braves in the WS.

If you get Realmuto you truly think the Reds will be better than the Brewers, Cubs, or Cardinals? You 100% sure you’re better than the Pirates?

Looks like we have a deal with veteran lefty Zach Duke but it hasn't been officially announced yet. Spent 14 games with the Reds back in 2013, last year appeared in 72 games with an 4.15 ERA w/52 IP and only gave up one homer.

Again - meet you back here in October. Since they didn't get him, you are down for 70 wins. I am down for 80 wins. Closest to correct wins bragging rights.

Trying to find a situtational lefty since Wandy was not dependable last season.

RIP Frank Robinson. As a younger man I was fortunate to see him play a handful of games at the old Crosley Field.

So, no org has signed Homer yet despite only having to pay the minimum. A huge "thank you" to the Dodgers for perhaps them agreeing to the worst trade in the modern era even if they just needed luxury tax relief. They have always been a nemesis of the Reds, but not any more. We are BFF's now. ;)

With all the blue light specials hanging around somebody probably will sign him when they get desperate enough if he wants to work. Getting $28 MM in his pocket this year for just existing on the planet may decrease his motivation though.

Signed Derek Dietrich to a minor league deal with an invite to spring training. Really love this signing to be honest. Plays all around the field (33 games at 1B, 4 at 2B, 2 at 3B, 97 at LF, and 1 at RF) and adds a nice lefty bat to the bench.

@Ken_Rosenthal

#Reds in agreement with free-agent infielder Derek Dietrich on a minor-league contract, pending a physical. Deal includes invitation to major-league spring training and will be worth $2M+ on the major-league side.

Very good pick up

GOODYEAR, Ariz. -- Upon the passing of his physical on Tuesday, the Reds signed infielder/outfielder Derek Dietrich to a Minor League contract with an invitation to big league camp for Spring Training.

If he makes the club, Dietrich will earn $2 million this season with the chance for an additional $500,000 in performance bonuses. His addition gives the Reds 62 players in camp.
Dietrich, 29, was designated for assignment by the Marlins in November after six seasons with the team. He elected free agency after clearing waivers. Considered below average defensively on many advanced metrics, he was unable to land a regular position in Miami. Instead, he moved around to play first base, second base, third base and left field.

Cincinnati is expected to have a four-man bench and could benefit from the added offensive punch besides the versatility. Dietrich has proven to be a slightly above-average hitter, recording a lifetime 109 OPS+. While batting .265/.330/.421 in 149 games last season, he hit a career-high 16 homers with 45 RBIs and a 2.2 offensive WAR.
Dietrich is expected to be in camp when the Reds work out on Wednesday. He will wear No. 22.

Reds have a minor league deal with Jose Iglesias as well. Man I haven't been the excited for Reds baseball in a long time. The front office and ownership have really made an attempt to get better this year. I'm not sure if we'll make the playoffs but we should be a lot better in terms of competitiveness.

Bought our tickets for the Saturday/Sunday games against St. Louis in August. Tried to talk my dad into going for the Friday night game but couldn't can't wait first time going to see them.

I know all the talk is that Senzel will be the starting CF on opening day but I still expect him to start out in Louisville to get some seasoning there and avoid the service time issue as well. I think we'll see Schebler start there until we bring him up but that's just my opinion.

Next year roster sizes will go from 25 to 26 active players but the September call-ups will be limited to 28 from 40. I like the move but we all know every team is going to carry another pitcher instead of a position player.

You guys got the inside track on Reds players worth taking a look at in fantasy?

I would imagine Senzel is going early in the Braves thread draft.

Senzel is going to start at AAA Louisville IMO regardless of what the front office & coaching staff is saying to media this ST. Votto is Votto he'll bounce back, Gennett and Suárez will give you great offensive numbers, a guy I'm really high on still is Peraza, and the guy we're all looking forward to is Puig dude is going to jack 40+ homers at Great American and it will be glorious to watch.
