Da Reds thread

Any W over the Braves is a good W. Especially just to watch the meltdown.

Kemp out for awhile with a broken rib. Maybe Ervin can get some time now. I hope Schebler is sincerely embarrassed with his .153 BA. At least Peraza got a key hit.

I just checked the throwback uniform schedule the Reds are doing for the 150th. They're going to wear the Big Red Machine era and 1990 unis to the 2 games against the Cards I'm going to. Looking back at them I really wouldn't mind bring the Big Red Machine uniforms back as the full time uniform combo I think they look better than what we're wearing now.

Smoked the Cards in every respect last night. Wished they could use a handful of those extra runs today. lol.

Bell stating he still trusts in Schebler and Duke. May be my only issues with him. Scheb is hitting .145 with 4 K's in his last game. Duke is a batting practice pitcher.

Think he is simply hoping to get by with Schebler until he gets called up (which hopefully isn’t too much longer). Than he either goes to the bench or sent down to AAA.

Hope you are right and you probably are. Schebler is hitting .132 and playing 2/3 games. That's Adam Duvall type stuff. Bell keeps using Duke and he continues to prove up his 11+ ERA. That's not a winning strategy.

He has to use Schebler but I can't give you an answer why we still are sending Duke out there. We have some arms in Louisville that deserve a job on the big league club: Anthony Bass who has a 2.25 ERA and 4 saves in 11 games & Ian Krol who has a 4.00 ERA in 9 games. Duke should have been DFAed awhile ago.

This schedule has been brutal. This team needs to be back at GABP to get their hitting evened out. There's a couple good homesteads the second half of May.

I'm excited for Nick's debut but scared at the same time. He's been VERY injury prone along with the vertigo so I'm hoping he can stay on the field. This potential lineup has me excited!

1B-Votto
2B-Gennett
SS- Peraza/Iglesias
3B- Suarez
C- Barnhart
RF- Puig
CF- Senzel
LF- Winker

Bench: Kemp, Dietrick, Casali, Irvin

That's a roster that can contend. Love it.

Nick has been called up, will be batting 2nd. Bowman optioned back to AAA while Scooter transferred to 60 DL.

Eating at Buffalo Wild Wings tonight and I had them turn the Reds game on just in time to see Nick’s first at bat man I really wanted that to fall for him.

Don't you know it our offense finally comes alive and now we can't get anyone out. We were up 8-0 and now cling to a 1 run lead unbelievable.

For the love of god please send Schebler down just a waste of a roster spot.

Same song, 100th verse. He needs to be sent down to work with a good hitting coach. He keeps doing the same things while expecting better results. This would be a mercy demotion. Bring an innings eater middle relief guy up to take his spot if you are not going to use Lorenzen or Stephenson for the role. That's the hole in the roster now that Senzel has been called up. It is past time for Scheb and Duke to be gone. Can't imagine the brain that chooses them over Ervin and a top reliever at Louisville.

Worst 5 innings of managing I have seen since some of Price's meltdowns. Bell has been good on a number of occasions this season. But last night was as bad as it gets. It is pointless to even post the mistakes because they were so amateurish and demonstrated no feel for the game and winning.

I agree that Bell loves the analytics a little too much, I know they have there place in modern baseball but sometimes you gotta see how the game is playing out with your eyes too.

As far as the roster make up if things don't start improving I'd really shake the roster up if I were in charge. There are a lot of guys down in Louisville that are doing things that deserve a shot in the big leagues:

Christian Colon - 32/105, 17 runs, 4 doubles, 1 HR, 17 RBIs, 17 BB, 10 SB (.305/.397/.371) (2nd in IL in stolen bases)
Josh VanMeter - 37/107, 26 runs, 5 doubles, 13 HR, 31 RBIs, 15 BB, 5 SB (.346/.432/.757) (Leads the International League in runs, home runs, RBIs, and 2nd in hits)
Phillip Ervin - 12/54, 2 doubles, 1 triple, 2 RBI, 5 BB, 3 SB (.222/.283/.296) (Kinda in a slump but we know Ervin can play)
Anthony Bass - 1.93 ERA, 14 IP, 5/7 SVs, 8 hits, 4 runs/3 earned, 1 HR, 12 SO/4BB and a .86 WHIP
Ian Krol - 3.27 ERA, 11 IP, 1 win/2 losses, 10 hits, 5 runs/4 earned, 1 HR, 10 SO/4 BB, 1.27 WHIP

Guys I'd option down

Option Scheb for Ervin
DFA Duke and recall Krol for that lefty replacement
Recall Bass and option Peralta
Option Peraza (at least for a time) and recall VanMeter (Jose has SS on lock down, VanMeter can platoon at 2B)
Option Farmer for Colon (We lose an emergency catcher but Colan can play 2B, 3B, and SS, and has a few MiLB games at LF)

You mentioned we need a middle/long reliever and I'd say Romano is a candidate but right now he has a really high ERA for the Bats but is a guy I could see in that role. All those moves would never happen but this team really needs a shake up in order to hopefully wake the offense up.

Well they just sent Scheb down and recalled Cody Reed so that's a start. We're going with 14 pitchers and a 3 man bench tonight...

Wow we just released Matt Kemp.
