Fits Hart's requirements- SEC experience, HC experience, proven coach. He probably feels he has maxed out at Miss. St. We could do worst- If not Gruden, I kind of like Fedora.

Nothing wrong with your opinion- I'm looking at realistic hires. I would love Patterson, Stoops, Peterson, Mora- I'm just not sure how realistic they would be.I respectfully do not share your opinion. I think the next person you call after Gruden is Patterson. Sure he's probably more of a long shot than Grudes but he's worth the same in gold. I think they also check with Stoops. I've thought the name was silly for a while but OK has been in a decline and he may not get many more opportunities to leave. I think a change of scenery could breathe new life into his career and I think he's a solid hire. After that I would call Charlie Strong. The list gets pretty muddy from there...

I see your point, but Tennessee is a huge step up from Miss. St.I'm just not one that believes a coach leaves one SEC school for another. Historically it happens from time to time but it rarely makes a big splash.
Also I think Miss State is a more stable program right now and they're on their way up. Mullen has been rebuilding for a couple of years and he's just now start to reap the benefits. He'd be back at square one if he came to Knoxville... and I just don't see that happening
