DC Black Hawk vs Plane crash, Philly Crash. Malicious, or incompotence?

I've always felt Trump is a high risk/high reward type POTUS. He can do really good things and/or really bad things. Appointments are a part of that. He's quite atypical, which is a big reason he's been elected twice. I am hopeful America gets more good than bad. We'll see.

I will say I LOVE his Chief of Staff. Wiles is badass.
First female Chief of Staff.

DEI hire!!!

I’m kidding. But she won’t get celebrated for that. Need that (D) next to your name for that to happen.

What's concerning is the amount of people who worked for him during his first term and now have nothing good to say about him and wouldn't give him the time of day. If that repeats, it could mean disastrous consequences.

That’s what’s concerning?

Well as a Trump supporter that’s good to know. But just a few months ago, what leftist were saying was concerning was a bit different. You know, that he’s a modern-day Hitler and a fascist bent on dismantling democracy itself. That his administration would usher in a nightmare of authoritarianism, where reeducation camps and firing squads would become commonplace tools of political control. That he was intent on eliminating free elections entirely, turning the country into a one-party state with no room for dissent or opposition. That we would see a totalitarian regime, silencing any who dared question his authority, and pushing America toward a future reminiscent of the darkest chapters in history.

So glad we aren’t concerned about that anymore.

I never said it was the only thing concerning. Just 1 of many....

Interested to see how this trade war plays out

Well I’m fairly pleased so far. I do wish he would let the hot blonde he hired to communicate on his behalf talk more. Keep her out front. And keep leaning on Vance as well. JD is a great communicator. That’s what I want to see more in this 2nd term. Be concerned with fighting the fights that matter, and let the people you hired/selected get in the mud.

This happened under Obama, right? I thought I read they scrapped the new test, is that accurate? Are you back to a more skills-based exam?
It did happen under Obama *shakes fist at Obama and yells at sky* But for hiring, not sure but that's what I've heard. I'm in FAA operations command and control so not super in tune with hiring noobs.

Okay .... so, if this problem was evident 10 years ago during the Obama Administration, it begs an obvious question here :

If members of the Trump Administration were aware of a problem with this biographical questionnaire, why wasn't it amended during the 4 years that Donald Trump was President from January 20, 2017 until January 20, 2021?

The Trump flunkies are going to have to be careful about blaming Obama for anything .... Trump has already served a 4 year term of his own since Obama left office. That was plenty of time to overhaul any bureaucratical red tape stemming from Obama's 2 terms.

It’s a fair point. If we are gonna blame Obama for his terrible decision making, as we should. Trump had time. He either didn’t recognize it or he didn’t push if he did. Either way, he didn’t produce. But Obummer put it in place. The gift that keeps on giving…

We (FAA) got computer systems still running on DOS and Windows Server 2003 still..

What relevance did that social media post have to today then? Why was it posted in this thread, as though it was a possible factor in the mid-air collision at Reagan National in DC?
Probably just didn’t know it got removed (congress banned it) Or posted that to mislead people for engagement

If we're speaking honestly they're all appointed based on relationships with the new administrations. Likely very few are truly 'qualified.'
I take a little issue with this perspective bit.

The Trump nominees and Mayor Pete being discussed are all highly competent people. I believe M. Pete failed to do a good job because he was caught up in leadership that did not demand excellent performance, but instead adherence to ideology. The right leadership, and I believe he could excel. I.e., he isn't a dumbass, he just played one for the Biden administration.

Highly competent people tend to adapt quickly to tasks at hand. The Trump cabinet members have a handicap in terms of how Trump can manage his own hubris in demanding loyalty. We will see.

So if the flight recorder, and/or cockpit voice recorders reveal this was a “hold my beer” situation, will we find out?

I fully believe Trump didn’t believe he would win in 2016 and wasn’t prepared so he fell back to the entrenched establishment which was a big mistake for him. That is why we see this transition going much smoother and his appointments being people who are on his team and not fighting against him.

Sure Trump can open his big mouth and make a catastrophic blunder but I doubt it.

My wife works for the VA. It’s remarkable to see how old and outdated their software is. They are essentially using technology that should have died a decade ago.
Don't get me wrong - I have a soft spot for MS-DOS, but it should not be a primary system in today's world. Especially in the FAA.
