Department of Government Efficiency - DOGE

So with the E in DOGE meaning "efficiency" what if there actually isn't any meaningful decrease in spending but there's a demonstrable decrease in "wasteful" expense? By this I mean instead of huge amounts of money flowing in with little apparent result we start seeing tangible results? Is that good enough or merely a better form of bad?
You will probably see a reduction in the number of government employees in a number of departments. Since the growth in government payrolls drove up the employment numbers over the past 4 years, the nutjobs on the left will spout out the economy is tanking, etc., however this should be viewed as gaining efficiencies.

This isn’t DOGE related but they’ve spoken out against the CR. These two points are absolutely BS. The CR is missing the freeze in Congressional salaries present in past CR’s and allows members of Congress to opt out of the ACA that they forced down everyone’s throats.

Rank-and-file lawmakers in both chambers earn $174,000 annual salary, with those in leadership earning more. The maximum potential member pay adjustment in January 2025 under the stopgap spending bill would be 3.8 percent, which would result in a salary of $180,600, an increase of $6,600.

The bill would also allow lawmakers to opt out of the Obamacare health insurance marketplaces and use the Federal Employees Health Benefits Program. The lawmaker mandate was a dramatic element of the fight over passage of the Affordable Care Act on Capitol Hill back in 2009 and 2010, and Republicans have been trying to overturn the transformative health care bill since then. However, the bill does not release congressional staff from the requirement that they seek health insurance on the exchange.

How can this be called a “continuing resolution” if it includes a 40% pay increase for Congress?

Some senator was on CNBC today lamenting that they haven't had a raise in 14 years. Let that sink in a minute.

Why is anyone there that long?

CR Bill is probably going to get pulled.

They must have some serious blackmail stuff on Johnson for him to even think about bringing this trash to the floor.

Low salary in comparison to what other professions? Not to mention the benefits

Idk the exact median in DC, but I don’t imagine 174 is far off. You probably have to maintain at least two homes (one in your home state and one DC). Plus you add in the public scrutiny.

I wouldn’t consider it.
