Department of Government Efficiency - DOGE

Right. They're quickly realizing they are out of their depth and trying to make it seem like they're fighting "woke" by "saving" all this "waste" while also spending way more than we were on commercial deportation flights to look cool in Air Force planes. How much did we waste in security for Noem to go LARP as Dog (killer) the Bounty Hunter?
You get a like for the Dog reference. Well done.

Watching USAID get gutted is heartwarming.

I had a lunch after a USAID conference with the head of a company (and her right hand girl) whose entire contract portfolio consisted of relocating Haitians to the US to work in factories. Tell me that's a wise use of US taxpayer money.

On top of that it's the most disgusting, incestuous example of contractor to govvy to contractor and back cycle I've ever seen in my life. They're all buddies passing each other cash with no oversight.
May dad worked for UGA, but his program and salary was funded by USAID. Peanut CRSP was his program. They worked with countries (As well as other CRSP programs such as corn and sorghum) that CONTRACTED/PAID into USAID/CRSP to teach crop growth and food production. He had 6 universities subcontracted in different disciplines such as diesease control, germination, etc. They developed a peanut strain that would germinate and grow in arid soil. My experience and knowledge of USAID was much different. He was audited every single year and was never a penny off. They even had to see and touch that little $1.50 pocket calculator he bought for his briefcase. At one point they decided he didn't need an anuual audit anymore and they left him alone. Guess things have changed alot at that agency.

LOL. Nobody despises the government enough until they itemize the $420m in DOGE cuts? I hate the government and it's because I know $420m is such a small amount that it's nothing to get upset about. If your households spends $100k/yr with $60k income, that would represent about $6 spent. Imagine freaking out about $6 but not the $100k
It's called low hanging fruit, and that's where many people... and businesses... start making cuts when they're looking for ways to reduce costs.

And ftr, it seems like you may be the only one getting upset. If it's not a big deal, then it shouldn't really bother you that it's happening.

really? I am pretty sure we funded and armed Al Qaeda for a good long while.

They hated us because of our support, including aid, to Israel. didn't like us playing king maker all over the region. all of that had "aid" attached to it.

Yeah, I don't think you can classify the CIA arming the Mujahideen against the Soviets in the 80's as "foreign aid".

Well, you could, but it would be kind of stupid to do so.

Why do you think I'm upset about something? I'm just making fun of that guy's phrasing on his clickbait Tweet. My comment is not at all a judgement of DOGE, it's about that guy's reaction.

I see the beast in the AVI! It lives! What are the dyno numbers? Quarter mile time and speed?

503 whp. 490 torque. @ 6200. Still climbing but stopped there. No timed runs as it’s still running a factory 2.77 rear. Hits 90 coming out of second and before you know it, you’re at 130 in 3rd and have to let out of it with 3 more gears to go.

Working on the 1989 20th anniversary TA now.

The VC-25B is absolutely worthy of scrutiny and Boeing is an absolute management train wreck.

Elon Musk visits Boeing about delayed new Air Force One jets
That's ridiculous. These were originally scheduled for delivery in 2022 and now say it could be 2027. It's a good thing they bought used and not new or it might be 2035.

I wonder how fast Airbus could have delivered?

$420m cut by DOGE in its first week, because Elon is a troll and life, even government, is all about making dumb jokes. This from the guy who definitely didn't think it would be funny to make people believe he was doing a neo-nazi salute. They had 2 months to plan this out and this paltry amount is what they hit the ground running with. Hopefully, they were scaling back to make the joke and not scaling up.

"According to Business Insider's calculations, that amounts to cancelling about $126 million worth of contracts per day. If the group works at that pace all of the 530 days between January 20, 2025, and DOGE's target end date of July 4, 2026, it would cancel around $67 billion in contracts each year. That would end up being about 3% of Musk's original goal of slashing $2 trillion from the federal budget, or 7% of his pared-down goal of $1 trillion."

Hell really have no fury like a lover scorned.

Here comes another 17 posts from Huff about Elon - but he’s “totally not mad” about anything 😂

why not?

We counted arming the Iranians against the Iraqis as aid.
then we counted arming the Iraqis against the Iranians as aid.
arming the guys who overthrew Gadafi was aid.
arming Israel to fight whoever is aid.
arming Ukraine to fight Russia is aid.

The gov site is scrubbed, but it seems this "DEI" was actually just giving Burmese that weren't wealthy a chance to go to college.
Why in the world would our government fund college for any non citizens ever when most of our citizens have to fund their own college education?

I mean, if you want to use your own personal definition of "foreign aid" as opposed to the commonly held definition, go for it.

Just guessing, but Burma is an authoritarian state with an awful state-controlled education system. Building up an educated, loyal to America group could pay off down the road? I dunno, but with anything US Foreign Policy, there's always a reason. Keep China out?

These are not unreasonable guesses as to why someone in gov decided to authorize the money . The point to me is I can’t really think of a good reason our government should ever give our tax $ to provide a service for a non citizen that American citizens have to work and pay to enjoy. That sounds like forced charity abroad being imposed on US citizens. I prefer to choose the causes for my charitable contributions which for me will usually be in my local communities. JMO, TIFWIW

It's reasonable to question whether we should be acting as world police and world bully with military and economic tools.

It's unreasonable for people to cry about "woke ideology" and "DEI programs" like they are a drop in the bucket or have any quantifiable negative effects.
