Department of Government Efficiency - DOGE

I imagine most of these crazy expenditures Musk is exposing was pork put into Congressional bills and was signed into law by a President, probably Biden. That's how the system works. That's how Congress folks bring home the bacon. My question is this: once it's gone through all of that and signed into law, can Musk or even Trump "veto it" at this point? It can't be that easy to negate something passed into law

I'm not talking Dems? I'm talking about people with functioning brains. Anyone whose paid a modicum of attention these past several years know. It's not just this country, the guy has tanked globally.

I think the Twitter purchase pushed him over the edge. He's a very smart guy with a developmental disorder. I believe the millions of sycophants fawning over his every word has led to him believing he's some sort of infallible godlike genius. This is much more than politics, there are stability issues here.
he has a bigger platform for people to know about his stability issues. kinda the same way with Trump.

there has always been questionable things about him, even going back to South Africa and his dad. people are just more aware of it and paying attention to it.

I would not be shocked if there was someone manipulating Elon, and not just Trump or his team. I don't think he has a real understanding of how public image really works. those awkward AF "sending his heart out" waves is a great example. someone THAT socially awkward doesn't end up the public face of anything on his own.

When it comes to technology absolutely!

Einstein was the brain. Almost everything Musk is doing in the tech industry is just seeing opportunity in other people's ideas. He deserves credit for that, but he's not Einstein.

And guess what? Einstein wasn't given security clearance for the Manhattan Project ; )

his dad is getting a raw deal from the left. He was involved politically against apartheid and was never some ultra magnate owning a friggin gemstone mine. He owned some shares or some **** but was never the guy signing off on heinous practices.

its his maternal grandfather who was an apartheid loving nazi who left canada because Canada doesn't like nazis.

I hear you on the Bond villian. Maybe he has always been the way he acts now, but falsely calling someone a 'pedo' while throwing a temper tantrum can make one reevaluate things. Especially when it continues to escalate.

I don't think he's changed so much as he's revealed himself on Twitter. He was a lot more impressive to me when who he was was a bit of a mystery. I thought he was an incontrovertible genius and that view was quickly defeated when he demonstrated he doesn't understand very basic things about society and civics, like what free speech means and how it works.

Elon Musk Unleashes Nerd Army Of College-Aged Engineers To Dismantle Government Waste With DOGE

Six baby-faced men with little-to-no government experience have been handpicked by Elon Musk to help him dismantle America's foreign aid agency.

Now, Musk has taken over and enlisted a troupe of men aged 19-25 - three of whom are believed to still be in college - to fill high-powered engineering roles and cut costs.

At just 19, Edward Coristine is the youngest of the fresh-faced bunch taking on corporate America and longstanding government institutions.

According to WIRED, he's been dubbed an 'expert' in his field, and specifics about his role aren't yet clear.

Akash Bobba, 21, Ethan Shaotran, 22, and Luke Farritor, 23, along with Coristine, have reportedly been granted A-suite level clearance for their work, meaning they can work out of the agency's top floor with access to all physical spaces and IT systems.

Musk's DOGE has been rapidly growing in power and expanding its remit, most recently securing clearance to access to restricted parts of the General Services Administration buildings and IT systems.

The oldest of the bunch is 25-year-old Berkeley graduate Gavin Kliger, who while not identified as having top level clearance has already proven he wields significant power.

Finally, Gautier Cole Killian has been named for his role with DOGE, which is reportedly on a 'volunteer' basis at this stage.

After widespread criticism about the men's youth, Musk released a statement about the appointments.

'Time to confess: Media reports saying that DOGE has some of world's best software engineers are in fact true,' Musk wrote on X.

I'd love to know their IQ. 🤔

They can't get rid of it, but they can dismantle how it's enforced aka it's not.

hes a 4chan kid with the biggest bankroll in history. Just a troll who knows 100% that his flirtations with the skinheads he welcomed to twitter is driving libs out of their minds and he thinks its hilarious.

He's an interesting study. Like, I fully believe him when he talks about wanting to ensure humanity's survival by becoming a multi-planetary species. So, on a macro level he has humanity's best interests at heart (most likely.) Contrast that to how he views people at the micro level, and its the complete opposite.

It just seems like everything is ego-driven, and I mean that in the Buddhist way. Get us to Mars? That would make him feel important. Getting involved in politics? Makes him feel powerful and important. Trolling people? Makes him feel powerful. Denying free speech to users he doesn't like? Makes him feel powerful. Getting laughs from his sycophant fanboys? Etc.

As I've mentioned before, I don't like Elon. However, I honestly think that's due to his aspergers.

You're having a major breakdown. Two weeks ago you had no idea that its a crime to support and harbor criminals, this week your are talking Manhattan Project and how dumb someone is that you haven't met. Being smart has some advantages, it also has some major disadvantages. Also, what is this Einstein thing? Einstein was not capable of doing what Musk has done... it's called execution.

I see the ego, for sure. I do think he has miscalculated the potential impacts of his behavior. If you step back and look at it, his behavior is extremely adolescent. I don't know how much of that is his developmental disorder, though.

i don't think he was ever serious about living on mars. Unless we give it a magnetosphere and drag Pluto into its orbit to stabilize the planet its always going to be a hellscape worse than Antarctica in a winter storm

living ON Mars doesn't make much sense to me. living below the surface makes much more sense.

consider it another excuse to send oil rig workers into space to save humanity.

It's hard to say his behavior hasn't worked out for him. People without a billion dollars act like jerks. Nobody can tell you anything And then there's another layer to this...

Twitter has not worked out for him at all in the traditional sense. He bought high. It was a total blunder. Then he proceeds to ruin the brand and its revenue generation through his behavior, but all of that is why he's so beloved by the right and why Trump completely changed his tune about him. It has worked out for him on the net, and it reinforces his behavior. We're to the point where he is viewed as a dog-whistler and can do something that looks almost exactly like a neo-Nazi salute, and he comes out the other side of it in an even stronger position.

We live in a world where some people are better off not living by the golden rule, and two of those people are the most powerful people in America right now. It's weird. Reminds me of that Chris Rock joke, "Don't do crack, you won't amount to nothing." and the response is "I could be mayor." You can do/say 200 things what would be career suicide for anybody else, but win 2 presidential elections. That's the toxic/bizarro world we live in, LOL.

Living in space really doesn't make sense, there isn't anything really there. Its called "space" for a reason.
