Derrick Henry...New Car.....Bama shenanigans?

We spent 17 years on almost uninterrupted probation. We vacated 3 years worth of games for a self-reported violation that the NCAA admitted provided no advantage, and they would never have known about had we stayed silent.

This idea that Bama skates on everything is some serious revisionist history.

Miami was handing out hookers, blow, and abortions and they got less than we did for handing out too many textbooks.

Short memory?

Because the textbook violation occurred while you were still on probation for prior violations.

LoganYoung. Albert Means. Ronnie Cottrell. Etcetera etc etc...ad infinitum

Repeat offender ring a bell? Serial violator?

What has happened since Saban has gotten there with his pals running the NCAA?

That is the skating I'm referring to. The fact that Bama has a serious history of documented infractions should only bolster the case against them. Those are some serious goggles your wearing if you think all that has suddenly stopped. Only thing that has changed is who is in charge and what top cover he enjoys.

Thank you for restating the exact point I just made.

Is there an echo in here?

Proud of the fact your school has zero legitimate championships?

Ok I guess - as long as you're good with the NCAA vacating wins and Nattys - I can dig it.

In the seven years that Saban has been at Bama, the NCAA has served notice, investigated, and issued major sanctions to two schools: Ohio State and Penn State. This is during the same time period that covered Cam Newton, the North Carolina mess, and the debauchery in Miami.

It sure is nice of Nick Saban to extend his influence to help out those other programs.

I do wish there were legitimate efforts toward and interest in cleaning up all the BS that occurs.

How many of these programs are posting internet pictures of cars, suits, ect? Are other programs just a dirty? Probably. But let's be honest here, seriously, how many other programs are flaunting it, effectively announcing "look what you get when you come here".

And, the fact that Bama is really that much better than everybody else on the field at literally every position should say something as well. Even at LSU Saban didn't have the run he is having now at Bama. It's great coaching, great recruiting, and a license to break the rules. It's sad that when it comes to that last component it has gotten to the point where bama fans are almost proud of it.

I still think there is a difference. Having a problem with the system is one thing, and I am willing to bet most on here would agree. I have no problem whatsoever with players taking benefits, but every player at every school should get the same benefits so the playing field is even.

However, like the rules or not, when one team is gaining a competitive advantage by actively and even flaunting rampant cheating, while other teams are playing by the rules (even mostly) then it needs to be stopped. It's to the point where Bama fans are justifying it. It's bordering on absurd at this point.

This isn't Bama hate, this is looking at basic sportsmanship. We can call it conspiracy or not, it doesn't matter, but without the top cover Nick Saban enjoys I doubt they would be getting away with what they are. those who deny this are even more delusional than those fans who say it doesn't go on in some form in their own house.

My problem with your post are so many I wouldn't even know where to start.

Each school is separate and each player is separate... treat the schools like any other business, which they are and treat the players like any other student and I don't have much of a problem... therein lies the ethical, moral and legal problem.... the last one is going to cost the schools so many billion your head is going to spin, but that subject has been beaten to death and I have been calling it for years. Wait till these kids start filing workman and labor complaints in each individual State and DOJ. The free pass is over or coming to an end.

At the end of the day, good for him, and good for any other one that can get funds for their services.

Big government scams way more than big business. Look at politicans for that.

Big business uses big government politicians to control little business. I am not sure why we need either one, until then... you do the best you can, which Henry apparently is.

I applaud any of these kids for getting what they can, as to me they are just doing what everyone else is. Good for him and good for any other player doing it.

Let every SEC player come out and say they were all paid... what is the NCAA going to do? NOTHING.

The NCAA never does anything. What's the point of it even existing. I'm surprised schools aren't jumping off yet.

Big government in Ca. Is running out big business, and banning everything it seems like.

I wouldn't say they never do anything. They just granted permission to Boise State to help out a homeless incoming player, after initially telling them they couldn't. That's something, right?

And we may be inching closer and closer to the big schools splitting away. This "exploratory" committee or whatever they're calling it to look into a different form of governance for the Big 5 is a very, very telling development.

I am still trying to figure out why they would want to do anything. The colleges will be on the hook, not the NCAA, and it will be billions.

Obviously too big a discussion for this board, but I have no real interest in either big business or big government, in the meantime... I am happy for the kid... he needs to ask for more cash though... cash is best.

Maybe he borrowed it from his teammate that posted wads of cash on twitter not long ago. Name escapes me.

Sheesh bamawriter you just don't get it do you? I don't think anyone is saying UT is not cheating in some manner, we probably are. Although I cannot definitively say we are. The point is Bama is blatantly cheating and getting away with it. Bama players just flaunt their gifts in the NCAAs face pretty much saying "I got these gifts and what are you gonna do about it?" Everybody knows Sabans ties with the NCAA. If not for that fact, it would totally different.

Alabama is blatantly cheating and barely any other program would get away with what they are doing.

Oh no, I get it. Rationalizing makes people feel better. If the playing field isn't level, then there's always an excuse.

This retort shows you really don't get it. It's not rationalizing, it's the truth.

If you can accept that everyone is cheating, even to the smallest extent, and the NCAA isn't going to do anything to anyone (not just Bama, see Auburn, Miami, UNC) then what difference does it make? The "cheating" isn't generally illegal or even unethical (Miami being an exception).

So the "Bama is worse" talk is simply rationalizing away the results on the field. If you are willing to accept that UT cheats even a little, and if you have the intellectual honesty to accept that the NCAA's talk of "amateurism" is BS, then you really should be asking why UT doesn't step up their game. And given Jones' recent success in recruiting, perhaps they are.

Should read for correctness.

"Colleges/NCAA are blatantly cheating and NO other entity would get away with what they are doing."

I am going to hire some students and pay them in meatballs.

Derrick Henry is awesome, I have no idea why freaking Reggie Bush gave his Heisman back. I don't see Les or Lil Nicky worrying about what people think about them making a buck or all those professors with their pay checks.

Its now official, you really don't get it. Keep on keeping on partner :good!:
