Developing story on Mel Tucker

Any formal decision of Tucker's job status, and the more than $77 million that remains on his contract, isn't expected to be decided until a hearing that USA Today reported will begin on Oct. 5.

How in the hell have they let him coach the last two games? Keep in mind the recent history around this school and scandal. Yikes

That's smart. Once the title IX investigation goes the way most think it will old Mel gets zero dollars.
I think they (quietly) give him a fractional payout and if he's smarter than he has been to this point, he accepts it.

Tough call. Would, giving him a penny, hurt them in the inevitable lawsuit this person brings against the Univeristy? Dont know. Optics wouldn't be good.

Not quite, suspended until investigation is finished

I think he’ll be fired too, but he technically has not been yet
Technically there's no way in Hades they allow him to represent their football program.

I don’t disagree but this woman did have a horrific gang rape happen involving Oregon St players 20 years ago. The players actually admitted to taking advantage while she was unconscious. So her original claim that led to her career as working with programs to educate on sexual assault is more than credible.

Does that mean she’s being honest here? That’s another matter but it does lead credence to her credibility
The statement above is made generally with regard to advocates and not to the Tucker situation or her previous situation. Didn’t say she specifically is lying or isn’t credible.

Let’s think about how we’ve had false allegations with guys like AJ Johnson and how he was unjustly stripped of playing time and lots of pro money. He received no sue process until exonerated years later in court.

I know, I think of Brian Banks in situations like this too

He already admitted to masturbating over the phone to her, so that part isn’t alleged. He’s just claiming it was consensual. Either way, that’s pretty terrible judgement, especially considering she is a sexual assault survivor / advocate.
Read again-it’s a general statement. Furthermore, AJ Johnson faced similar allegations and was completely innocent but was denied due process and lost playing time and earnings because of advocates and over-zealous people who didn’t presume innocence. As I’ve stated, I don’t know the facts and didn’t presume judgment on anyone but merely stated it’s been proven that “advocates” and over zealous individuals have demolished due process and the presumption of innocence. And it’s objectively true that innocent men have been substantially harmed in the process. Let’s let the police and courts do their thing.

Well she was a third party contractor. He was her boss for all intense and purposes. She has the contract bc he gave it to her. He could just as easily take it away.
He called her and did all she’s accusing him of, after she had already made her 3 appearances in front of the team. What would he have left to hold over her/take from her?

She's going to sue the school and win anyway. After this was reported to them, the school waited to suspend him which is probably against their own sexual harassment policy.

Whether they pay him or not, Michigan State disregarded her complaint until (I assume) they knew it was going to leak to the press.

Michigan State is going to pay this lady.

Its funny that Phil Fulmers A Candidate and B Candidate for the Tennessee Coaching job was Jeremy Pruitt and Mel Tucker. Turns out it wouldn't have mattered who he hired they both would end in disgrace.

It would appear as though those three meetings weren't all that was agreed to

“At first, Tracy tried to pretend to herself that nothing had happened. Her partnership with the school was paramount and she focused on that.

Tucker, however, was not responding to her text messages. And he abruptly canceled her in-person training, planned for July 25, three days before it was supposed to take place. A team staffer told her they had double-booked, but Tracy believed she knew the real reason.”

“Tucker recalled the Aug. 2 phone call much differently. He told the investigator that Tracy apologized to him for discussing his marriage with her assistant, and he accepted. Although they ended the call on good terms and discussed postponing her visit until next year, Tucker said he had lost trust in Tracy.

The training was never rescheduled, and they never spoke again.”

What did I say that was incorrect? Why don’t you stop having a meltdown and read the source? Comparing it to AJ Johnson is totally irrelevant, as Tucker isn’t facing criminal charges, and I only pointed out what he already admitted to.

In his statements to the Title IX investigator, Tucker acknowledged masturbating on the call but said Tracy grossly mischaracterized the episode. According to him, they had consensual “phone sex.”

Even if it was all consensual, they still probably have an out to fire him from the moral turpitude clause in his contract. This is mostly about getting out from that stupid contract. If he was still winning at the level he was a couple years ago, they're instead moving heaven and earth to figure out a way to keep him.

If Fulmer could have found a way to hire he and Pruitt at the same time he would have done it.

While Pruitt was an idiot-JP and Co were handing out cash to players and recruits.

Compared to these accusations against Tucker, what Pruitt did was almost "quaint"

I have to say these accusations and everything surrounding them are the most stupid things I have heard in a long time. Tuggernuts is an abject idiot for doing this in the first place. The woman is either lying or a bigger idiot. All she had to do was hang up the phone if there was a problem. Perhaps don't answer the phone in the first place. For goodness sakes don't keep up this phone relationship for so long if it is truly troubling. Oh, the timing seems mighty convenient as well, doesn't it? This stinks to high heaven. If I was paying someone $80 million for a 5-7 record I might be tempted to dig for a little dirt.

A big part of the me too movement is people who regret being promiscuous and escalate something to the r word when no coercion was involved. These accusations usually come years later with no evidence other than changed hearsay and have no accompanying police report. Not saying that happened here at all, but the false accusations that happened have made me skeptical of accusations and “advocates”.
And do you have a reputable source for this statement? And one that takes into account that many claimants owe their jobs (and their source of income) to the accused?

Yeah see Knox News Sentinel coverage of AJ Johnson. On a national level look up the “Mattress Girl” saga. Justice Brett Kavanaugh is another. Director Daria Argento filed allegations and it was later shown she had relations with an underage actor on her set. Shortly after that her fiancé Anthony Bourdain hung himself. Countless others but does that work for a start?

Yeah-I don’t know what level of evidence is necessary since Mich St is a govt institution and presumably has a higher firing threshold than a private at will employer but it’s a bad look if it’s true he admitted to calling her and doing what was alleged. That certainly is an ethical violation.
